For cryin’ outloud. 600+ people die in car accidents every day because we didn’t ban driving motor vehicles.
If car crashes were contagious we probably would.
Actually we peaked May 1st at around 40K NOT 30K and that was when we were testing about 400K/day NOT 700K/day.
At that same time we were peaking in deaths per day at 2750! We have not had a day of deaths over 1000 in 5 weeks and have averaged just a hair over 600/day for the last 2 weeks.
But screw the facts, let the pearl clutching, breast beating, panty pi$$ing snowflakes fret and wail the sky is falling. It is after all what they live for.
Actually about 90 people die each day in the US from crashes (https://www.cdc.gov/vitalsigns/motor-vehicle-safety/index.html) According to CDC statistics, there were 40,231 deaths caused by motor vehicle accidents in 2017. (https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/death-index-top-50-ways-americans-die/47/) And the economic and societal harm from motor vehicle crashes amounting to a whopping $871 billion in a single year.
Thus to be consistent, COVID-19 captivity promoters should contend that henceforth travel should be restricted to only essential needs, and street distancing of 6 car-lengths should be practiced when doing so, and otherwise all motor vehicle are to be garaged-in-place until a solution (bumper cars?) is found to prevent this dangerous and often deadly viral-vehicle transmission.
