Tons of Redskins nickname options have been trademarked by a guy in Virginia

The NFL’s Washington franchise announced on Monday that it is officially retiring the “Redskins” part of its name. What will they go by now? We have no idea. It’s a weird move to announce a name change without a new name, and a theory is emerging that would explain why the club decided to do it that way. According to several Washington Post reporters, the preferred pick for the team’s new name is already trademarked by someone else, and the two parties are now fighting over it.

For trademark infringement to be real, your business generally has to be in the same industry and geographic area as the one you’re infringing on. There’s hundreds of companies that share names, yet no trademark infringement arises.
And of course, as several have mentioned, the troll has to have legitimate use inthe first place to even have a chance at a lawsuit.
I doubt this guy is in the football (or even sports) business, if his business is even real. Much ado about nothing.
