The NFLs Washington franchise announced on Monday that it is officially retiring the Redskins part of its name. What will they go by now? We have no idea. Its a weird move to announce a name change without a new name, and a theory is emerging that would explain why the club decided to do it that way. According to several Washington Post reporters, the preferred pick for the teams new name is already trademarked by someone else, and the two parties are now fighting over it.

Make broadcasters say: the team formerly known as the Redskins."
Do they still not realize that the era of spectator sports in America is gone, finished and over?

Washington Swamp Creatures
I was thinking more of the Washington Woodlouses.
They are easily frightened and when frightened roles up in a ball to hide its soft underbelly.
The New baseball team is called the Nationals, call the football team the Americans.
No one is going to accept the name change, so deal with it, Snyder.
A curse has been placed on you and your team.
Rim shot!!!
It's not just a trademark. For that he can sell one bumper sticker a year to his brother-in-law and it's a legitimate trademark. What's likely at issue is copyright and for that he only needs to publish it once.
Today the tribe has about 2,300 members. Eighty percent live within ten miles (16 km) of their historic village of Patawomeck. They are trying to revive their historic Algonquian language.
The Washington Lodge Skins
The Swamp
Lots of other leagues have names like 'The Storm' or 'The Fire'. Why can't the NFL have a team called 'The Swamp'?
Would Florida get jealous?
Washington Wussies
When this first came up years ago, I mused that we usually name teams based upon things or people we ADMIRE, either for courage, strength, prowess, brilliance, tenacity, or some other virtue.
Names like “Braves”, “Warriors”, “Bulls”, “Bears”, etc, evoked images of WINNERS.
Whatever horrible things happened in History, it can’t be denied that the American perception of the Indian Warrior is that of an unusually brave, if savage fighter, who was tragically doomed because he faced an enemy with superior numbers and weaponry. Thus, naming a team after that ethnic group (of which I have roots on my Dad’s side), is a COMPLIMENT, not an insult.
Do we want to name teams after things we DON’T respect? If so, I have some suggestions:
The Pittsburgh Pustules
The Washington Whiners
The Atlanta *sswipes
The Boston Bedwetters
The Los Angeles Leakers
The Chicago Shirkers
The Philadelphia Flush
PS, the Seminole Tribe has made it clear that they LIKE the Team called “The Seminoles” and are happy to see their name honored by the team.
Tinfoil Troglodytes!
Since the fascists on the left are on the rise, maybe they should call themselves The Faggots and their symbol could be a bunch of sticks tied together.
I have a better related one;
“The Washington Epstein Killers.”
...of course there is a sparser and more niggardly way of saying raccoon, but we won’t go there. ;-)
...and they can go old school and rename the stadium to Ft. Marcy Park.
