The Washington Redskins plan to announce Monday morning that they will change their team name, three people with knowledge of the situation confirmed Sunday night. The team is not expected to reveal a new name until a later date.
Two people with knowledge of the team’s plans said Sunday that the preferred replacement name is tied up in a trademark fight, which is why the team can’t announce the new name Monday.

I’ve felt for some time that the NFL and NBA have many pre-arranged results. After the Patriots went 18–0 before losing the Super Bowl to a very mediocre Giants team, I was sure that gambling money had finally become too powerful a force to resist. Since then these two leagues in particular have devolved into just another form of WWE - a lot of theatrics with no real competitive value.

Whatever - the team is owned by Dan Snyder. He had a right to keep it named “Redskins” as long as he pleased, he has a right to change the name to whatever he wants. Since the team represents Washington D.C., I’d recommend “Parasites”.
Dropping the name and not having a new one ready is completely amateuristic. Bush league to ten decimal places. Here’s an idea about the trademark fight. Find a new name that isn’t involved in one.
Would be funny as anything that if the new name becomes just as “controversial” or more as the old one.
