Oh Say Can You See (Jeep Commercial)

OneRepublic and Jeep have extended their relationship with a new Super Bowl commercial, which the automaker has released ahead of Sunday's big game.

The ad is called "More Than Just Words," and it's described as a "illustrative narration" of "The Star Spangled Banner." We see Ryan Tedder and the rest of OneRepublic entering a recording studio, where Ryan starts to sing, "Oh say, can you see." Each word he sings is illustrated by an image -- for example, as he sings "can," we see someone opening up the pull-tab of a soda can. When he sings "see," we see a woman looking around a city at night time.

The 3.6 is the only choice until the diesel comes out. J have the 8 speed auto and love it. I have been very pleased with the truck and it seems that a lot of thought has gone into the design, for example, the rear part of the top requires tools to remove. They are in a nice compartment under the back seat with marked places for all the fasteners. I bump 20 mpg average occasionally. No threat to a Prius, but for a 5000lb vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick that can tow 6000lb, not bad. Workmanship is first rate.

This Wrangler Forum has three years of discussion of the JL series, of which the Gladiator draws upon. The V6 redesign issues, steering issues, dual-battery for engine autostop, belt-start-generator if optioned, plus NTSB recalls are available.

2018 JLUS in Punk’n Orange with 2.0 Hurricane engine is a daily driver.

May want to tag the engine oil filler cap for oil type and quantity. Some service departments still of habit will use six versus five quarts, which the newer version of the engine calls for.

Some V-6 first oil changes of initial production found casting sand accumulated in the oil filter cartridge. Some have mystery engine ticking noises. Headlamps will need upgrade to LED over the halogens standard with typical factory packages.

May get an inline six rather than a three liter diesel.

I’d love to have that power with my inline 6 but turbo’s, nitrous, and superchargers shorten engine life. I’d rather the engine last for 200-300k miles.

The 4.0 In my ‘06 Limited that I sold to buy the Gladiator had 247K miles, a lot of it light towing. Mobile 1 since break in. Still ran perfect and no oil use. I tend to gravitate to this kind of motor. I have a BMW bike with the old boxer motor with 165K. Same story. Run slow forever.
