A local taco restaurant closed both its locations in Atwater Village and Studio City Sunday, citing harassment from customers who refused to wear masks while ordering or picking up food.
In a message to customers, Hugos Tacos described the majority of their guests as respectful and kind as the restaurant operates with some restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the message said, staff have been harassed, called names, and had objects and liquids thrown at them as they enforce the mask requirement.
Our Taco Stands are exhausted by the constant conflicts over guests refusing to wear masks, the announcement said.
Signs about the facial covering rule are displayed on the premises.
When you ask some of the customers, they get upset, they get mad. They dont like to do that, Executive Chef Nabor Diaz told KTLA. At this point, its really important for us to put the safety of our crew first.

“Ive seen a lot of people wearing masks without their nose covered.”

“The population is wising up”
In the Twin Cities, I have noticed a difference between the blue and red areas.
On Saturday, the wife and I were at a large floral and garden retailer in the city of Minneapolis. Everyone was wearing a mask. EVERYONE - employees and staff. I got a phone call from our vet and stepped aside to take it. I pulled my mask down (my wife insisted I wear it) and someone walked by and gave me “The Look”. In return, I gave her the “I’m blowing you off” look.
Later hat day, we were at a Lowe’s in a red third ring suburb of Minneapolis. My best guess is that 40-50% of people were wearing masks.
But people in general are still scared and whether we like it or not, way too many of them are still getting their news from CNN, NBC, etc - and we knw how those networks feel about keeping the anxiety ginned up. They love it.
I have zero problem ordering with the mask on. I move to the side while my order is being prepared. I get my order, find a seat, remove my mask and eat.
Me too, along with some (such as myself) who don't wear them, take that Karens !!!
That’s the problem with turning citizens into agents of a police state.
Hey Hugo /s, You are defending the WRONG people. The few people refusing to wear masks are PATRIOTS! F_UCK (/s) MASKS!
It’s time to celebrate with Sammy Hagar. Mask FREE or DIE!
(same for condoms)
#1 right after the election. Meanwhile the democrats will tank the economy as they still are getting paid.
He’ll just relocate and rename his shops “Karen’s”.
Rampant. Say something as if it is fact, and nobody will bother to refute you. How about so rampant among the x and y community, as evidenced by these statistics: (satistics here)
They are destroying their own business on purpose. Good for them. They will soon be able to work for someone else soon.
Free market- post ‘masks required’ on the window. Call the cops on, or beat the crap out of and toss out on the street any stupid jackwagon who walks in having seen the signs and thinking they don’t apply to them.
It’s a free country, a private property owner can damned well require a mask, and a free citizen can take their business somewhere else.
The wife and I went to Menards without masks. We got in the front door and one of the employees came running over and said we had to have masks. They will sell you one for about a dollar. I said screw this, I’ll go to Lowes.
I am watching the local news now on KTLA in Los Angeles. The 2 newscasters are maybe 6 feet apart and not wearing masks but are in the same room so why are masks mandatory when we can clearly see the politicians and the reporters not wearing them except for photo ops. In the field I only see some reporters wearing them as well.
As you close your store and lay off those same employees...
That you are close to either the person you are ordering from or others in line. Once you get to your table you are a sufficient distance you can take it off.
I work with aged and vulnerable seniors and the disabled, so I *ALWAYS* wear one outside the house, I don’t give a crap what anyone thinks, the lives of my clients are more important than somebody’s ‘freedumb’ to infect others.
I have been by there many times in Atwater Village. It’s always hipsters in line for their vegan tacos.
I work in a hospital, so wearing a mask is no different than anything else we do...
It is a PITA and I can’t do stairs with it on.
