There are plenty of leftists swaggering these days. Cities have blazed, municipal and state governments have been humiliated, police forces are cowering, mighty corporations are trampling each other to apologize for things they had absolutely nothing to do with.
At first glance, this appears to be the left’s moment in the sun, something they’ve looked forward to for many years, if not generations. Throughout the 20th century, the left’s problem with the United States was the lack of a proletariat to lead against the oppressors.

I just don’t see how the left wins on a defund the police platform. I could see it with massive amounts of obvious frad votes, but not actual people who have a stake in the USA.
My skin crawls when I read posts that predict a DJT landslide. The left is going to pull out all the stops and the voter fraud will be unprecedented. Many aren't in touch with reality.

The death occurred as a result of physical frailties that were exacerbated by resisting arrest. The death occurred as a direct result of the dead man violating the civil rights of the various cops and endangering them by resisting arrest
When he resisted in a drunken state and extremely bad health, he in effect forfeited his right to life

They’ve convinced many Americans who have a stake in America that they don’t have a stake, and even if they did, it was invalid, and undeserved.

Its not just that, its that they have nothing positive to offer at all. More division, societal chaos, a breakdown in law and order, ever growing government, higher taxes, etc. While there’s no shortage of Trump haters selling that total package of negativity to voters is going to be tough for Dems to do, even with the corrupt media helping them. By and large most people prefer stability and some semblance of progress.
Maybe -but it doesn’t look like the looting, murder and arson are getting the result they wanted.

Agree. The radicals and their allies in the media overplayed the rage and emotions cards. Lots of people recognize wanton violence and chaos when they see it.

They no longer have to hide their intentions. They have a significant base that longs for the oppression they promise.

For the left any group with real or imagined grievance will suffice to agitate for a revolution. The convenient “proletariat” today are the blacks or the trans or whatever group they can pick a scab off to get them in the streets.

And when they are boiling with rage, even the stupid white ones, you point them at your enemy.....white people.
From the Left’s point of view, the murder of George Floyd (and it was a murder, the video allows no doubt about that.) came as a godsend.
How anyone can judge that someone is guilty of murder based on a video and NO OTHER evidence is amazing. Number one he was on a number of drugs that could have caused respiratory issues. Number 2 he was positive for COVID which could have caused respiratory issues. Number 3 that neck hold was a perfectly acceptable restraint procedure that was legally being used according to Minneapolis police policy on a large, muscular suspect that was actively resisting arrest. It was not cutting off his air supply. Number 4 they had called the paramedics and they were waiting on them to arrive.
Basically what people want to prosecute the cops for is that they didn't attempt CPR. Manslaughter maybe. But murder? There's no way that this cop will ever be convicted on a murder charge...not even 3rd degree. If that happens then Minneapolis will be sued out of existence by EVERY person who ever resisted arrest and had a knee on their neck to restrain them. Every cop who used the method would HAVE to be brought up on attempted murder charges.
