NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday that he hopes former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will help "guide" the league on issues pertaining to social justice.
The commissioner also said during the interview with ESPN's Mike Greenberg that he would "support" and "encourage" a team signing the controversial signal caller to its roster.
Kaepernick has not played in the league since 2016 when he was released by the 49ers following the season after losing his starting job to Blaine Gabbert. During that same season, he ignited controversy by kneeling during the national anthem at the start of games to protest racial injustice and police brutality in the United States.
"Well, listen, if he wants to resume his career in the NFL, then obviously it's going to take a team to make that decision," Goodell said. "But I welcome that, support a club making that decision and encourage them to do that.

More like bankruptcy.
Words escape me. But, so does a hot steamin’ methane burst.
I began watching the NFL in 1972, became a hard core fan. I stayed with them several years ago when the kneeling began, because the NFL was giving no money to these kinds of things, and was not supporting the kneeling, leaving it up to the franchises, which was wrong.
This is different. They have thrown in with domestic enemies of this country. I am done. I just cancelled my subscription.
reason number 3001 i refuse to watch football anymore-
I like the Seahawks - especially Russell Wilson - but no way will I support the NFL - this is CRAZY!
Another season without watching ...
Obviously, the NFL didnt learn their lesson the first time around with Kaperdick.
(KrapInNickers)
The NFL is nothing to me now. That this was the ultimate aim of the Left, to destroy national symbols of unity, only enrages me that much more.
My citizenship is found in the Kingdom of God. I will not abandon my country, but step by step it is abandoning us.
Interesting that Goodell volunteered to allow his mouth become Colon Kaepernick’s outhouse...
FU NFL! Youll never get one more penny of our money.
This removes the veneer that the NFL is the world’s best athletes striving to win.
He goes several years making a non-decision about kneeling during the national anthems and now that the tides of the mob and BLM crowd want it their way, he's capitulating and appeasing them to accommodate that weasel, anti-American KrapInHisPants.
Take a knee Goodell and retire.
I’m done too. Several years ago I bought a 120” projection screen and projector not for movies but for football. Although it did replace the movie theater. That’s how much of a football fan we are.
But, with the NFL completely caving in to the Woke Leftists we are done with the NFL.
Nothing is more important to us than the future of our country.
Our children are FAR more important than any sport or any company. The country we want them to inherit is infinitely more important. And, the Sports leagues Corporate suits are all selling is out.
I can just see ten years from now: “Roger Goodell is supportive of some team signing Colin Kaepernick as backup quarterback, even though he hasn’t taken a snap in the league for 15 years” ...
This is probably meaningless and meant to deflect criticism of the NFL over their blackballing Kaepernick. They put him in a league office and he does photo ops and talks about reform and then puts out a report that the owners wipe their butt with in a couple years.
I am fed up with this crap. Pls, let’s get the civil war started. I am more than willing and able
We cannot let this communist take over proceed.
Start a church intramural program.
Nobody that loves America should watch this NFL game show. They are using money you spend to remove you. They are using your tax dollars to build playgrounds for their stupid, watered down, boring game.
Seriously, if you watch this crap at all, listen to it on the radio, or even take free tickets to attend a game, you are giving these sick freaks money to wipe YOU out.
If I can give up Star Wars, you can give up the NFL. :-)
How can we start a petition to do just that ?
