Walmart has decided to forfeit not only the profits but the cost of those products. A small sacrifice to gain the goodwill of a swath of its clientele. This is appeasement on the cheap.

Trouble is the Broken Windows theory; by essentially communicating to some of their customers that stealing is acceptable, Walmart will experience much more shrinkage of inventory than some trivial hair gel or what have you.

I tried shopping at the local Walmart when I moved to Baltimore. NYC unions would not allow a Walmart to open within city limits, so I was curious about shopping at Walmart. UGH! I wanted some cosmetic items like nail polish remover, not ethnic. I had to stand in line in the cosmetics section of the store and have a person check me over, that I only had the cosmetic items in my cart and nothing more. THEN I still had to go to the general cash registers by the front of the store. I felt as though I was being treated like a thief, when I’ve never stolen anything in my life. I know if Walmart unlocks the “ethnic” items, they will disappear without being paid for, and then all Walmart customers will have to make up the losses with higher prices. So go ahead, Walmart, be “woke”; I won’t be darkening your doors any time soon.
