Walmart will no longer place multicultural hair care and beauty products in locked cases in any of its stores, the company confirmed Wednesday.
The practice, which Walmart says was only in place in about a dozen of its 4,700 U.S. stores, has received criticism for the implication that the customers who buy these products, largely people of color, cant be trusted. The cases must be unlocked by a store associate, and the products are usually then taken to the front of the store for purchase.
I work at a WM in a small military town. All stolen items are deducted from our “MyShare” which is a bonus paid quarterly to employees, which is supposed to keep losses down to a minimum if they are watched/caught. There are other reasons our “MyShare” is lower such as broken items, Accidents, etc. We, the employees are unable to do anything about this. When it is brought to Managements attention, nothing is done. We, the employees are on the first line of losing money due to this practice. BTW, All afro-centric items in my store are not even locked up. They are right out there with all the other beauty items. Thank God, being in a small military town there is very little shrink and most of that is actually done by white people. “Regulars” as we call them. They steal stuff and come back and return it to get their returns put on a gift card or if they have a receipt back onto their credit cards. These people are usually also not allowed back into the store. The are “Trespassed”. Loss Prevention knows who they are and are on top of them. We usually have the cops at our store for shoplifting 1-2 every week. Another way of stealing is changing UPC code from $5-10 items and put on $30-60 items. If the cashier catches it, they are brought up to customer service to rescan everything in their carts and Loss Prevention is right there to catch irregularities. A throw rug which sells for for 30-60 dollars but that has it’s UPS Code label changed to $1.50 will usually check out at Self Check out with little chance of being seen unless they are know as “Regulars”. I know my store is not the Norm, but it just puts a little clarity on what actually goes on as far as theft.
Correct, Locked up ammo. They are being racist against hunters. The ammo and gun counter needs to be located next to the door and unlocked.
“They will be stolen.”
By the employees.
My local Wallyworld never has an unmolested box of bandaids for sale.
Perhaps it’s all the looters couldn’t get, and they complained?
Apparently blacks aren’t into huffing.
Try buying a can of spray paint without an ID.
“They might as well mark them FREE. No Wal-Mart clerk is going to confront a black shoplifter. They will just stand at the door and say, Have a nice day, Sir! or Maam!”
I don’t think they’re allowed to speak gender.
“Ammo used to be locked up.”
My first thought was they were going to unlock the ammo.
My WM’s still keep anything besides shotgun shells locked up.
So I guess they’ll be locking up all haircare products now.
“Raise prices [on items only White Folks buy] to compensate for the increased inventory shrinkage.”
Fixed! ;)
More pandering by the morons of America.
Oh, Oh please oh please don’t call me a racist I just couldn’t stand it.
Things like spray paint?
Even in the little town of Castle Rock, Colorado, Wal-Mart has had to put afro gel and other black products in locked cases due to rampant theft.
I discovered that the hair creams (non-oily formulas) designed for curl/frizz control work way better than gels or other holding products meant for white people.
Everyone has a particular styling need but for real body and control that actually works and works invisibly (no white residue, no crunchy/gunky effects), a little bit of “Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream” on dry (fine but not thin) hair goes a lonng way. Dry meaning not wet.
I’ve been using it for many years even as my hair has changed and it has kept up with the changes.
The many reviews on amazon give a good feel for the item.
FRmail if you want the specifics.
I once asked a drunken crew member on my cruise why everything in my cabin was bolted down.
Well....you know his answer..
When I was a night-stocker at WalMart (10 years ago), we were told to pick up any receipts we saw lying on the floor. People would pick them up, select that item, and bring it back to Customer Service the next day for a refund.
Yes, Im loving them! Well worth the money.
