Walmart will no longer place “multicultural hair care and beauty products” in locked cases in any of its stores, the company confirmed Wednesday.
The practice, which Walmart says was only in place “in about a dozen” of its 4,700 U.S. stores, has received criticism for the implication that the customers who buy these products, largely people of color, can’t be trusted. The cases must be unlocked by a store associate, and the products are usually then taken to the front of the store for purchase.

True story...in the refrigerated section, a large block of cheese had a theft deterrent wire/alarm attached - the kind that wrap around electronics.

Ever notice how there is always someone at the ladies changing room in department stores checking on the stuff women carry in to try on, then checking when they come out?
At the men’s changing room you can’t even find anyone close by to ask a question...nobody pays attention to you.
It’s because almost all shoplifting is a female thing, males rarely shoplift, so why bother keeping an eye on them.
May be different in some stores but up-class stores are all like this.
Males seem to excel at much more dangerous criminal endeavors though, I cannot deny that.

Most Wal Mart shoppers are honest but you can see where a few eat food and leave the remains/wrappers on shelves, drink from plastic bottles and leave them on the shelves, rip open some packages and take their contents, etc.
The decent people of all types are the ones who suffer from the few crooks, looters and smart alecks, so let’s aim our criticisms at them.

Watch a local stores “forget” to update their on hard inventory as these items get stolen so the computer keeps thinking they exist and won’t order more to get stolen.
These things don’t happen randomly. They were secured because they WERE stolen. The others were not... for the opposite reason.

You can absolutely tell the difference between things that “errors in scanning” and stuff being lifted. There are big differences in codes vs massive shoplifting a certain product or products.

The Walmarts were I live closed down due to shrinkage, and the one they kept open closes at 5pm.

But the media was not mentioning his size or reporting that Floyd was removed from a squad car because he was acting up under the influence of drugs and also later was discovered to have COVID 19. Which suggests his physical condition may have led to his death which the media turned into a murder change and a charge of serious abuse by police because of police efforts that were tried to get him who under control. Nevertheless, I do know what I write, since I work with it everyday and you don't.
All companies of a decent size will cut a check based on only what is scanned at the registers and not one penny more. Any shrinkage is paid for not by Walmart, CVS, Safeway, Walgreens, etc etc but by the vendor. That is the way the world works now. And the vendor can choose not to do business this way, but frankly, that is the cost of doing business. We don't even send out an invoice since to give an example, Walmart knows how many widgets are sold and they automatically cut us a check once a week. Someone at my company will then reconcile the number of widgets sent vs. how many widgets Walmart said they sold and we credit their account for any difference meaning we absorb the cost of any theft or scanning issues. Walmart sends us a summary sold by store and our system analyzes by store and any store with a shrinkage of 15% or more gets further attention. Sometimes it is a scanning code issue and sometimes where the product is placed, which means our marketing people believe the problem is theft. We are often successful in where the store will place the product so it is not stolen, but can be a hassle since it may have to go through several layers of management.
If the store's shrinkage is still high, then we reserve the right to not send any more to a specific store. But the bottom line is the vendor takes the loss for shrinkage and not Walmart or any other store.
