It rained fairly heavily in some places last night and more storms are on the way today, so I think that helped.
Also, I think they have quietly been arresting some of the leaders, who certainly are liable for federal charges. They deputized a Florida NG regiment in DC as US marshals last night, which gives them arrest powers, so they will be able to do what the local police forces wouldn’t be allowed to do. Also, in this situation the arrestees won’t be turned loose again three hours later, as is happening in most Dem cities.
