Hearing what Gen Mad Dog Mattis had to say today, I am reminded of something I learned about Trumps pick for Sec Def during the transition, as the President-elect was about to take the oath of office. Several sources inside the transition team confirmed...
They were shocked by who Mattis wanted as his number 2 - he was pushing for Michelle Flournoy, the same person HRC had reportedly picked to lead DOD in her Administration, acc to sources/articles at the time, such as one Politico published in Nov 2016. They put it this way:
THE NEXT ADMINISTRATION - HILLARY CLINTONS HISTORY-MAKING DEFENSE SECRETARY IN WAITING.
Always wondered why Mattis would want someone like that at his side? Seems unlikely she would have been loyal to the President she would have served - was he?
Men like him knew Gen Mike Flynn was loyal to the US not Russia, yet they said nothing? As Sec Def, Mattis would have had access to all intelligence. What happened to that military code of honor in Flynns case? What about his Commander-in-Chief? He was silent then - but not now.

I think that was Allen.
Nice post.
Omarosa Illegally Tapes Mattis & Then Accuses Him of Threats
I think Trump thought he was dealing with professionals not political hacks.
“Trump surprisingly has made some pretty bad personnel choices.”
Yes, he picked many swamp/beltway type Republicans. They are not his backers and supporters. He gave short shrift to many who helped his campaign. I think he has gotten bad advice from his daughter/son-in-law. He needs to stop listening to both of them.
Maybe Mattis allowed Omarosa to record private conversations because they are allied in the desire to remove this president, and always have been. Omarosa has been uncommonly quiet since her last book bombed. Even the media seems to have no more use for her, that, or she’s just a very difficult person to deal with in any manner.
Ok but wasn’t Allen chief of the WH staff? If Mattis was at the Pentagon where Omma-whatever have an opportunity to deal with him.
Either way she should have been prosecuted for that security violation.
Mattis was White House Chief of Staff. The conversation took place in The White House.
I guess I forgot that. Thanks!
Lara Logan doesn’t care for Mattis either... but she worships the ground the Communist Nelson Mandela walked on
“Mattis was White House Chief of Staff.”
Guess I missed that.
Agreed. He needs to pick talent first, tenure...not. Young up and coming stars, business owners, true conservatives. People not ashamed to be conservative. Or apologize or being so...
No problem. I miss a lot of things. I’m old. My mind is a steel trap for some things, for other things it’s a sieve. Don’t ask me what I had for supper last night.
Trump unraveled NAFTA.
Trump unraveled the TTP
Trump unraveled regulations stimulating the economy.
Trump unraveled the Iran Agreement.
Trump got a huge tax deduction passed stimulating the economy.
Trump negotiated a new North American Trade Agreement.
Trump changed the US - China relationship.
Trump enforced NATO obligations to the US
Trump got the Keystone Pipeline approved in record time
Trump got criminal justice reform passed.
Trump got two conservative judges on the Supreme Court.
All this while being investigated by the Deep State, Impeached by the Wicked Bitch of the West, fighting the Wuhan Virus, closing down the economy and fighting back an insurrection (which includes Kelly, Mattis and Esper).
No politician could have done what President Trump has done.
I have said it, again and again. Mattis was a poor choice. Never liked him back when he ran 1st Marine Division.
Agreed, and you missed much more.
But, hes made some bad picks. Surprisingly so.
I hope hes much more careful going forward.
“Mattis is all about Mattis.”
During Desert Storm I was a Red Cross Volunteer at Walter Reed on the amputation ward.
Got to see a lot of generals. Most were the “Look at me! Look at me!” type.
A few were “How are my men” type. Petraeus was like that. We (volunteers and enlisted) didn’t know who he was until he was leaving the floor!
He would come by occasionally. Just sorta quietly wander in. So different from the clowns that would stride in with their entourage.
