Amazing architecture.
WOW! That was crazy! I hope no one was killed!
Yes, those were some tightly-built homes!
Wow!!
Stevie Nicks sings one of her biggest hits; Landslide.
Reading the headline, I thought Conservatives came to power
Who’d ever believe big houses would just float around like that?
I wonder if their insurance is the same as ours? You structure is insured, but your land isn’t. What happens when your land just disappears and is gone forever? Are you just SOL?
Read the headline and thought they were talking about an election.
Forbes reports “everyone accounted for.” The impression left was that no lives were lost, which is amazing. One person reported hearing a loud bang and thought someone was in the house. Once they understood what was happening, they “ran for their life.”
The state still expects you to pay taxes on it.
Never seen anything like that!
Did they say anything about the cause?
No they didn’t. They said it occured on the western side of the island. Maybe it’s for the same reasons California experiences some of theirs.
Wow!
Guessing: rains and melting snow over-saturated the cliff soil.

My guess is that it is related to this:

The soil type has a nasty habit of becoming easily liquified.
How weird. Not just the slide but the dude filming it doesn’t seem the least bit disturbed by it. And why was he filming that stretch of land at that moment anyway?
If it’s like the other quick clay slides that have happened in Norway there are warning signs well before it totally lets loose.
