"He could have resigned and cleared the way for an AG who could be active."

You didn't even read the posted text.

As a ore-election Trump supporter Sessions was “suspect”.

]The media would not allow him to do any investigations LOL!

So. He should have resigned.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even after after he recused, President Trump refused to accept Sessions resignation.
Even after after he recused, President Trump refused to accept Sessions resignation.
That was an unsourced claim. Trump never said that he refused to accept Sessions resignation.
C...Y...A
Why not honorably resign, leaving the AG job in clean hands?
Instead, he just hung around watching the walls crumble around the POTUS, with nobody having the practicable authority to mount a counteroffensive against the barrage of illegal activity. Putz.
"Yeah, he did answer that question."
First of all, what's with the name calling? You're a bit disrespectful of a fellow Freeper who has been here a while longer than you. I made a statement that didn't require you to be obnoxious.
I've read through the letter 4 times now, and cannot find Jeff Sessions explaining why he didn't notify President Trump before he made the announcement to recuse himself. I never flunked comprehension in school, and I may be old, but I'd like you to copy and paste the sentence or sentences where Sessions explains why he did not tell Trump he was recusing himself before he announced it to the world. Thanks in advance.
Why not honorably resign, leaving the AG job in clean hands?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~’cause he wanted to support the president? And the president didn’t want him to resign?

That’s an open letter to the state of Alabama.
President Trump can refute if there’s anything false in it.
I get it - you’re anti regardless of “details’ and “information”.

"Sessions could have exposed all the false evidence then and saved the nation from the lies of Russiagate."

He didn't have it in him, and never would have.

What are the odds that Jeff Sessions was unmasked by Obamagaters? I’d say near 100%, and quite likely where the DS got dirt on him and shut him down.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think you’re right.
That’s probably in the redacted section of the FISAs.
Just as I thought. You can't cite Sessions saying that he offered to resign.
I get it - you’re anti regardless of “details’ and “information”.
No you don't get it. I don't repeat rumors from unnamed sources from the NY Times. You do.
Sessions is said to have offered to resign
Sessions: [Mr. Tuberville is an opportunist who isn’t from here. He stopped here for work for a while, and moved on, eventually retiring in Florida. He doesn’t know the first thing about Alabama. He says the President is wrong on China, says we must import foreign workers to take American jobs, and up until a few months ago, he said he favors amnesty for illegal immigrants. If you don’t like his position on an issue, just wait a few weeks and he will change it. His house is built on sand.]
As Senator, Sessions won’t have to recuse himself again. And he’s better than open borders China panderer Tommy Tuberville, who sounds like a tough-talking, but do-nothing Chamber of Commerce RINO like Dubya. Dubya talked tough on the border and China, but gave away the farm. Sessions has always been solid on immigration and foreign policy.
Timeline leading up to Sessions' recusal:
Timeline
He was sworn in on February 9, 2017. He recused himself on March 2, 2017. He wasn't even in the office for a month before he recused himself. According to this timeline:
"In a statement released March 2, Sessions said he had met with 'relevant senior career department officials' in the previous several weeks to discuss whether he should recuse himself and, "having concluded those meetings today, I have decided to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for president of the United States.' "
Well, the conversations he says he had with senior career department officials over a period of "several weeks," makes it sound like he had begun to discuss his recusal as soon as he was sworn in, considering he was in the job for only 22 days when he recused himself.
Haberman is deep state as is NY TImes, I wouldn’t consider them authoritative. Jeff Sessions wrote an open letter to Alabama and his letter is linked at the top of this thread. I’d seen his open letter quoted on Twitter people I read but hunted around to see if it it was anywhere else. I found plenty of sources and went with AL.com. How I wish people actually READ the thread before responding.
I don’t post on these threads just to oppose whatever others are saying so try to understand why this conversation is a waste of my time. I post with interest when people actually have something to say.
