Swap it out for beef?
Stir fry with tofu?
That right there is a way I want to try it. The only time I had gator was when I bought a bag of gator jerky at a specialty shop in St. Augustine, FL. (I’m a bit of a jerky aficianado.) It tasted like some sort of saltwater rough fish - very fishy and gamey, too much so. Our dogs - who were vacationing with us - thought it was the cat’s ass, so it didn’t go to waste. And they had a fantastic teriyaki ostrich jerky.
I ate rattlesnake once. I think I’ll keep it that way.
I tried some at Disney, FL and thought it tasted like a fried truck tire. I’ll stick with the turkey legs next time.
Fishy and gamey all at once. Tried it twice. No third time. Good for boots, not for eatin’.
Walmart used to carry frozen gator meat. I used to make an etouffee with it that was delicious.
Another grocery store started to stock it but it was tough and terrible.
Is this social engineering to move away from hard to get traditional meats?
Between chicken and frog leg? More like between lobster and frog leg to me. Actually I prefer alligator to lobster
I’ve eaten gator many, many (many) times and it’s always been delicious. I’ve had it fried, grilled, barbecued, in sausage and in gumbo. Cajun food is the best.
Tell that to the ones that have found their way to my freezer. Tail s overated. The second joint meat is the best.
First thing you have to do is kill it...
I like alligator meat
For that matter, I have purchase quite a few pairs of boots from Ariat with alligator skin.
Luv em..
Lived in FL for 25 years but never tried it. Tried frog legs once from a restaurant but I think they were under cooked. Still kinds clear. Tasted like swamp.
There hasn’t been a wild alligator seen in Michigan for over a hundred years. They must have been hunted to extinction......
I must of missed the How to catch Alligator episode........
I've checked in on the guy's YouTube channel over the years since before he got married. He's done quite well for himself but since becoming a YouTube celebrity, I stopped watching.
When it was just him recording and sharing what he did as live-aboard captain of a wealthy person's fishing boat who loved the Florida outdoors, his videos had a genuine quality to them.
Now he's just using his videos to show off his toys and peddle sponsor's merchandise.
Don’t eat for 5 days. Anything will taste delicious.
Had some years ago when I was stationed down in Ft Rucker Alabama. It’s ok, fried to a crisp. Had some rattle snake too. My southern pals loved seeing my Yankee-ass eat stuff like that. Good times.
Marinate in orange juice, garlic and thyme or oregano then grill, or fry, or wrap in half cooked bacon and bake.
Or soak in buttermilk overnight, and right before cooking give it a shot of House of Autrey seafood breading or Zatarain’s cornmeal breading and fry it.
