My guess is that they are flying over areas that offer enough
room for viewing, while still doing social distancing.
Generally following the water...
standard blue angels show fair is over rivers and coastline. A lot of it has to do with ditch routes if needed. Got to watch them twice every year at USNA - once for the practice run and once for the official show.
When I first read your answer, I was thinking you meant to pilots were social-distancing. LOL.
