NFL obliterates old TV ratings record for draft, with 37 percent increase from last year

It’s not like the NFL was ever rooting for a global health crisis that would keep everyone in the house and wipe out practically any game on the schedule in April.

But it certainly led to record-setting television ratings for the NFL.

The NFL announced it set record ratings, which is no surprise. There was an average audience of 15.6 million viewers across ABC, ESPN, NFL Network, ESPN Deportes, and digital channels according to the league. The previous high was 12.4 million viewers in 2014. There was a 37 percent increase in viewership from last year’s draft.

Sure does. A lot of other shows will be saved from this virus where otherwise would have been cancelled. A ton more Americans are watching tv.

As an old time NFL fan, I thought it was a good show. It moved fast and certainly didn’t miss the draftees hugging the commissioner. They should keep to this format.

Hell even I watched some. And being as I don’t watch college ball and don’t know who the players are I’ve never found the draft interesting. But sports talk. Highlight reels. Normalcy.

I actually think Trump should do his press conferences this way. Send the presstitutes home for COVID safety and make them dial in on Skype. Then Trump selects the feeds.

My draft takeaway:

A lot of people out there have really ugly living rooms.

True, but I'd watch a test pattern before tuning in to the "Take a Knee" league.

I confess to watching even tho I have no hope for the NFL to have a meaningful season.

I haven’t watched any of it. I’m not THAT bored or desperate for sports.

It also doesn’t hurt when Disney shows it on every network they own. And one or two that they don’t.

We got our asses kicked at Domino's the last two nights. A lot of people were watching that crap.

I think it's kinda like the Super Bowl, a lot of people watch not because they're really interested, but because they've been told all week that's what they're supposed to do.

The NFL Draft is the biggest non-event in sports.

Yeah, not as if the Lions are going to win the Super Bowl, anyway.

I had to mute most of the coverage...

and even then I couldn’t stand it.

Someone let me know when Jake Fromm gets drafted.

I’m pissed at the Falcons for not taking him in the 3rd round.

Now we’re stuck with 34 year old Matt Ryan, who has really been on a downward slide for the last couple of yrs.
