Unfounded speculation, mystery and online rumour making, this isn’t a true crime series -- it’s people’s attempts to figure out the origins of COVID-19.
Theories circulating online is that the virus keeping most of the world in isolation was created in a lab in Wuhan, China, where the first cases of COVID-19 was recorded.
Debate has increased in recent days: the Washington Post reported leaked intelligence cables in 2018 raised safety concerns of the lab in question; and US President Donald Trump was asked about the rumour following a Fox News story containing unverified claims the virus was created in a lab, not as a bio-weapon, and accidentally escaped. In response, Trump said, “We’ll see.”
Professor Edward Holmes specialises in infectious diseases and biosecurity at the University of Sydney. He says there is no evidence that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 in humans, originated in a laboratory in Wuhan.
Prof Holmes says the most likely origin of this virus is other coronaviruses that are common in wildlife, and routinely jump to new hosts.
There is a bat virus named RaTG13, which is the closest known relative of SARS-CoV-2, and is kept at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Those are everywhere, but this one actually brought some new terms out in the open, such as RaTG13, which is the near obvious precursor to COVID-19, and exposed the fact it exists in the Wuhan lab (and very likely nowhere else). Also the long section to the Doctor developing a vaccine who carefully explained how labs can modify genes without splicing. This is actually one of the best articles out there IMO, and I’ve read probably close to 100 now. But thanks for your thoughts as well.
My guess is that many have just about given up in finding a naturally occurring intermediary. It has been months now. And if the Chinese already know the intermediary was the lab, they already know it will never be found.
Their PR yesterday that the WHO couldn’t prove the lab didn’t concoct or leak it, which is hardly a flat denial. Add to that the fact that Chinese labs have notoriously leaked Corona Viruses before, and Occam’s Razor is starting to kick in.
I have been posting about this story for months..but most of the technical stuff is above my head. And the stories i posted months ago used a different version of the bat lady name. shi zl in the notes.
So it didnt click with me that it was the bat lady.
So my response at the time was that it was possible wuhan stole..or copied.. the study..when in fact..bat lady participated in the study

Its possible this jumped in nature..or that it jumped in a lab...or it was a bioweapons experiment

Then again, maybe the person writing the article used it to get out information which would otherwise not be widely known.
The whole thrust of the article is the bait and switch, the idea that because the virus is naturally derived, it did not escape from the Wuhan lab.
Such an elementary use of a faulty premise is not accidental.
I think we ought to just declare war on China, nuke the bastards, then invade with our army, and get this nonsense over with. We should just put our ass where our mouth is. They’ve got 1,300 million Chinese, we’ve got 300 million Americans. I’m sure we will win.
I’m a little tired of the calls for war with China. Nothing like diversions as to why our media beat this drum in the first place, you know, such as to wreck the economy Trump was running on or to shut down his stadium appearances.
Whether it was developed as a bioweapon, or not, is important of course, however, it is starting to appear that it may have been USED as a bioweapon, to infect the rest of the world, after China realized it had been bitten. Open source investigations such as we are doing here may be the only way these stories ever advance, so keep up the good work.

I could understand if it was a non scientist..but not one who is a scientist.or Dr..or of that general field..who has specifically posted about the study before and knows it well

CT, I know we’re all frustrated to the point of being pissed, but you know that’s not the right answer. Not every last Chinese should be condemned to death for the mistakes of their leaders. That’s where the focus needs to be, on the heartless communist rulers. They are the ones responsible, whom should be held accountable, and the tide against them is starting to turn, it appears. And let’s not forget, many Americans are fairly directly responsible for their rise to power. We can also take away their power, but it needs to be done with moral authority, and clarity, not nukes. If that’s who I think you’re talking about, I wouldn't take him at face value he’s even a scientist. He’s a long term troll that likes to pull chains, and rarely posts anything of length, or value. Has he posted any actual studies he was supposedly involved in? Make him put his real name out there like Travis M if he wants to be believed. Trolls usually scurry when faced with bright ligts.

I missed your sarcasm earlier, thanks. Yes, we do have an issue with “the Chinese” but mostly because their government forces them in lockstep.

A lot of things are coming into focus now. One thing aroused my curiosity is the sudden prolific presence of a poster I had not seen before and I doubt most have. Although his poster is listed as “Since 2006” I don’t recall seeing the screen name until recently. A quick flip through his “In Forum” History reveals he has not been a particularly prolific poster in the past. He had NO POSTS at all from 07/29/2019 until 3/7/2020. I wonder what happened that made him come back? If you delve deeper he had 100 posts in 2016, 40 in 2017, 20 in 2018, and 80 in the first half of 2019 then radio silence until COVID-19.
Then since 3/7/2020 he has posted 350 times! Quit a “surge”. I wouldn’t accuse him of being a Disruptor but his participation certainly seems spurious and a casual glance at a few of his posts reveals him to be quite capable of being aggressively contentious.
The screen name? IMPIMP. Or “I’m a pimp.” He’s telling you, it’s right there. It all makes sense now.
