If I remember correctly, the state of Pennsylvania liquor store employee union voted not to work during the corona state shutdown by our governor. From the standpoint of virus spread our governor's decision to close the state stores did not make a lot of sense. (I drove to Ohio and spent money out of state!!!!!!!!!!!)
Does anyone know if Pennsylvania's liquor store employees are getting paid during this shutdown???
What's the chance that the public is ticked enough to now oust the State from the liquor business??
I have no proof but believe they are-—a huge union that Wolf needs in hi pocket.
They’re civil service jobs and union to boot. I think the chance they won’t get full pay and benefits is pretty small.
Probably getting bonus pay.
..... (I drove to Ohio and spent money out of state!!!!!!!!!!!)....
Ohio Governor DeWine has ordered that stores selling liquor in all counties bordering Pennsylvania must check IDs and refuse sales to out of staters.
I guess we don’t need your money.
They're government "workers"
Do you know of any government "workers" anywhere in the US who are collecting unemployment?
ML/NJ
When I made my last booze run on shutdown day I asked the clerk who said they’d been told that they would be paid.
I can’t independently confirm that however.
The state said they are losing $6.5 million a day. If you multiply that our it comes to about 2.3 billion. plcb sales for 2018 were 2.5 billion.I believe they are getting paid.
Based on my experiences in PA State Stores, they get pretty much paid to not work even when they’re open.
Your sh!tting me.
Screw Dick De-Wine.
I’d go make some straw purchases of liquor if I was in one of those counties.
The LCB is a Prohibition Era agency that should have been evaporated decades ago. Now they are a typical government “regulatory” agency connected to a POS union that controls liqueur like a mob.
Are you saying that when I get my morning pint of Irish Rose, a union thug is serving me?
What is the rationale for that?
Slim to none.
With all of the other crap that is going on now, do you really think that most PA residents give a fat rat's ass about some bloated gummint union folks getting paid for not working?
If they are, they should really be pissed about the teachers unions.
You can be guaranteed that these folks will be paid, and probably get some other hidden benes.
There are roughly 600 Wine & Spirits shops in PA according to the PLCB website. 904,000 sq ft of warehouse space. Figure a dozen employees per shop (say 7,000 plus another couple hundred employees to staff the warehouses.) A sizeable union, though I think you can be employed without being a member.
Maybe Pennsylvannians will wise up and get rid of their Prohibition era liquor monopoly.
Dewine claimed that law enforcement requested the action due to heavy purchases by out of staters.
“....Gov. DeWine states the order is necessary because he has received multiple reports of people coming into these counties from Pennsylvania.
Any other time we would love to have visitors from Pennsylvania, but during this time, those who are coming in to buy liquor are creating a health hazard and thats something we have to take action, he said.....”
