Louisiana church expecting 2,000 at Easter service despite coronavirus: 'Satan and a virus will not stop us'

While many churches across the nation plan to hold their Easter services online Sunday, a Louisiana pastor says his church near Baton Rouge is expecting a crowd of 2,000 or more despite federal coronavirus guidance advising social distancing. “Satan and a virus will not stop us,” Rev. Tony Spell told Reuters. “God will shield us from all harm and sickness. We are not afraid. We are called by God to stand against the Antichrist creeping into America’s borders. We will spread the Gospel.” Spell has gained attention in recent days for insisting on holding in-person services as the coronavirus pandemic has left more than 14,700 dead in the United States and as cases nationwide top 431,000.

Sad but true. A family in NJ attended a funeral. Of the 12 about half were infected and four of them died.

The photo showed most of the family were very overweight. It’s a sad fact how the ChiCom Virus hits those older with underlying illnesses like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, asthma, etc.

Some call this racist (against the black community). I call it low lying fruit and the ChiCom Virus knows how to hit hard among this underlying issues.

It’s a hunch just by all the mass and rosary talk and defensiveness even though mine is not intended to be an opinion about the veracity of the Catholic Church.

I don’t like the pope but neither do most Catholics here..I do like the traditions of the church and it’s historical war to keep western civilization Christian ..we owe them for that

Anyhow we have a lot of northerners here where Catholicism is more prevalent ...it’s less dominant in the south except Louisiana and coastal areas from Texas to Alabama

These safety measures do no interfere with your right to that religion. You beliefs are not being condemned, you are not being rounded up and sent to prison, you are not being beaten to death. You are being asked to practice measures which help ensure survival for your fellow citizens. God is with you, and has been known to have said, “Where two or more are gathered in My Name, there I will be also”. That means that you can worship at home with your family. Do it, and quit bitching.

They have the right to assemble but they don’t have the right to risk the lives of others. Make all 2000 of them shelter in place there for 14 days. Give them food, water and clothes. At the end of 14 days they can go home after the church pays for the food, water and clothing.
