Yesterday's thread here:

I get that, when reading a book.
Even if it’s instrumental music....my mind will drift away from the book, with some image the music creates.
that’s with stagnant air, tho. Don’t most (large) grocers have updraft air circulation? (never thought about how store air conditioning works)
Ugh....I hadn’t even thought about peeps who have to share washers.
Scary.
IDK, but I’m feeling good about the treatments evolving for the virus.
How about you?
This may have been answered either here, or on the presser thread - but - did Dr. Birx ever update on the meetings she mentioned at yesterdays conference, with the Abbott folks concerning getting them fully up to speed?
Hopeful look.
Tatt
I’ve felt that way since the beginning actually.
My only reservations were if we could get/manufacture enough given the supply chain disruptions from China and the ongoing friction re: trade war.
I’m still concerned about that actually. And not just with CV treatments. Unless we get kicking on a source of antibiotics, strep throat will kill kids again.

Thanks for the reply.
It’s a mess alright, but we’re still the boss.
Where is China, or anyone, going to get food for their masses without us?
A much overlooked consideration.
The Sniffer...
He would die if he had to go cold turkey!
Brazil, Argentina, Africa.
China has bought up HUGE swaths in Africa, South America, Australia, etc.
Nope.
Doesn’t work soon enough.
They need the food NOW.
Yeah China has reached to expand it’s sources.
But they’ve been so selfish that they haven’t succeeded.
They’re getting it now.
They’ve been doing this for over a decade.
https://tribune.com.pk/story/1644418/3-china-voracious-buyer-foreign-agricultural-land/
“Chinese investment in agriculture abroad has soared to at least $94 billion since 2010, with almost half of that invested in the past two years, according to statistics from US-based think tanks, the American Enterprise Institute and the Heritage Foundation.
Private and state-owned Chinese enterprises have made investments covering nine million hectares (22 million acres) in developing countries as of 2012. But in recent years, attention has shifted to Australia, the United States and Europe.
Here are some of Chinas biggest overseas agriculture deals:
In 2016, Chinese property developer Shanghai CRED went in with a local mining group to purchase the biggest ranch in the world S. Kidman & Co in Australia, which owns 185,000 cattle and controls 2.5 per cent of all the countrys agricultural land.”

We're hearing all of these stories of people recovering, but the numbers just don't support what we're hearing and I can't begin to tell ya how sad that makes me feel.
I think your thoughts about us hitting a barrier - which is what both Italy and Korea have done - and I know Korea is our best guide in beating this - anyway, I thing you're right. I think we'll hit a barrier soon, maybe in a week or two at the most.
On the positive side, there are a lot more treatments being proposed and evaluated. We need a drug that actually turns CV into nothing more fearful than the flu. Vaccines are too far away to be of much value with this disease due to it's rate of spread and CFR. We may reach herd immunity before a vaccine is available at the current rate of infection - just sayin'...
From a quick glance and search ... looks like Abbott is behind on producing the testing machines.
I searched birx abbott labs and it pulled up several recent articles about it.
What’s the big deal with touching the front of a N95 mask so long as you don’t touch anything else* B4 sanitizing your hands? (I have a bottle of sanitizer stationed in my car’s cupholder so I can “pump” the sanitizer w/ my right wrist into my left hand.)
*I consider the bag the mask(s) goes in “hot” so I handle & treat it as such.
N95’s work by electrostatic force. Virus particles are not going to fall off. My prefilter (bandana) I do take off outside the car & bag. Door handle, keys / FOB, and hands get sanitized once in the car. The steering wheel too, if I think I touched it (but I’ve realized I’m pretty good about avoiding it.) Remove mask, cap, mask goes in bag, cap on dash in sun (hopefully), sanitize hands again.
I’d also note that with my (largish, wire rimmed) glasses, those N95 cloth / elastic bands tend to hang up @ the screws where the glasses fold. No way to avoid having to touch the frame. So, after the mask comes off and is stashed in a bag (goes to a 150 deg. heat sterilization cycle once back home), the glasses’ frame get sanitizer too - just don’t get it on the lenses unless you have a way to clean them, or you may face the bigger risk of impaired vision on the way home.
The gloves I skip. My hands are a more hostile environment for a virus than are gloves.
Interestingly, with the mask on I have no problems not touching my face. With allergy season coming on, though, not rubbing eyes will get tougher. Need a smaller sanitizer bottle for a pocket, I guess.
As for the humming? Ah, yes, the Star Wars Imperial Death March works nicely. ;-)
This is the saddest thing I’ve read all day.
A. We don’t have enough of some of the drugs.
B. Bureaucracy.
C. More of B.
D. All of the above.
Yeah.
But I, and they, are more concerned about their influence than their profit.
This is an immediate need, not a strategic one.
An immediate need.
