Also....just checked the freezer availability in my area...again, for the heck of it...(since we have plenty)....none available.

A poster (forgive me for not remembering who said it) had a good idea, the other day....for those who need a freezer....call your local appliance/fridge repairman....they may have a good one.

That’s a great idea.

I’ll have to remember that one.

I’ve said all along. My biggest concern is the (still down) supply chains. From medicines, to generic supplies to keep OUR industries running...still AWOL.

Then there won’t be a peak, and we’ll just keep doing like Korea and Italy are doing now, but at three to four times their rate. And in a month from now, more or less, we’ll have close to 100,000 dead from CV.

Before you exit your car with your mask and gloves on, put a baggie in your pocket for later.

When you exit the store, hum a tune. If you can’t think of a tune, do the old ommmmm, ommmmm, ommmmm, thingy. The sinuses produce nitric oxide, a viricide. humming stimulates production of NO and channels it to the nose. Which is why you’re going to be nose-breathing to deglove and demask.

https://www.atsjournals.org/doi/full/10.1164/rccm.200202-138BC

When you return to your car, stand next to your front tire or in front of your trunk but not right next to your door (so if any virus falls while demasking or degloving, it won’t be right in front of your door and get tracked in). Remove gloves as shown below. Secure the gloves in your baggie. Unlock door with fob. Remove mask as shown below. Add to baggie. You can put baggie in trunk or you can put in a paper bag on the back floorboard. Sanitize hands before touching steering wheel. And off you go, humming now optional.

how to take off gloves:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4gyNAsPCbU

Removing Surgical mask/earloop mask:
Do not touch the front of the mask. Breathe through your nose with mouth closed. Using both ungloved hands at the same time, slip your index finger under the elastic band at the Bottom of the earlobe. Move your index finger behind, up and slightly back to the top of the ear stretching the elastic band slightly as you go so the band clears the ear on each side. Lift off the face in a smooth forward direction by moving your hands forward. Hold earloops to put in baggie.

Don’t take off one ear, and ‘peel’ off the face - do both ears at the same time so the only skin touched is the bottom of your ear where you slipped your index finger.
Don’t take the mask off starting at the upper elastic - it’s too close to your eye. Always take off starting below your earlobe then up. Fold the mask outside in by bringing earloops together.
Don’t touch the front of the mask. Use the loops to put mask in baggie.

how to remove an earloop mask (scroll down about half way for a very short video)
https://goodyfeed.com/surgical-mask-which-side/

(Note: when putting on a surgical mask, the dark or blue side of the mask goes outside, the white or light side of the mask goes towards your face - it’s a myth you should reverse them)

Removing N95 mask:
Do not touch the front of the mask. Breathe through your nose with your mouth closed. Grab the bottom elastic and pull back over the top of your head and down below your chin keeping a slight tension on the mask. Keep holding. Using other hand, lift and pull top elastic over head. Move mask forward and off the face by moving your hands away from your face and down. Breathe lightly through your nose until the mask is in the bag. Use elastics to put mask in baggie. Don’t touch the front of the mask. Sanitize hands. Breathe normally through your nose.

why you don’t want to reuse a non-washable mask:

Have you tried your local appliance repair places? Might be worth a few phone calls. Some do warranty work for the big box stores and occasionally have almost new appliances which only required minor repairs, like a switch, a loose wire, etc.

Btw, I happened upon another Youtube artist you might like:

Stand By Me - Julia Westlin (ACAPELLA)

Rather appropriate. :)

Thanks...I will take a listen. Good sewing music :)

I don’t need a freezer. We were discussing the lack of supply, in most parts of the country.

Someone had suggested, the other day, IF someone needs a freezer...to check with their local repairman.

We are good (thankfully), here :)

I wonder.
The idea of “flattening the curve” is to delay cases. (Or front load them which I haven’t seen much effort toward)

So when, where do those casss appear?
They don’t disappear.

As far as I’m concerned, you can take whatever risks you want as long as doing so risks or affects only yourself. Where it gets dicey is when you risk or adversely affect others. Do they get a say?

Further down the line. The idea is to slow the spread so HCS don't become overwhelmed. Most seem to be holding up well compared to what Italy went through - except maybe NY. Italy's CFR soared once their HCS collapsed. Their ND/TD ratio has fallen tremendously but that is calculated on the total number who have died, so they are still seeing a large number of daily deaths.

Like Korea, they seem stuck at the level they're at now. I don't doubt that what you say about the US becoming stuck at some level isn't going to be what we see soon. I just hope we get that level down to 5% (two weeks) or even lower. 10% (1 week) is way too high. We may begin to overwhelm our HCS at that level, if it continues.

We need a cure...

Just a generic what if question here...

For the sake of argument, let’s say you were tested for COVID-19 and came back with a positive test but were asymptomatic.

Your doctor is concerned because the patient has some underlying health problems that could cause problems if the patients starts showing symptoms. The doctor starts you a prophylactic regime of Hydrochloroquine.

Does anyone have a ballpark guesstimate of how long you’d have to take it before your next test was negative?

No, I’m not the patient. But I got to thinking “If this drug has a prophylactic ability and it is given to medical staff, first responders, etc and then to groups such as those living in congregate care facilities, we are gonna need A LOT of this medicine”.

Good info.
Two weeks is a barrier.
Yes, I hope, and expect, us to beat that.

Sorry, I thought it was you looking for a freezer. :)

There are some tasks music really helps with. For me, it was programming. When reading a book, however, I have to have complete silence - weird. Lol

You won’t have a “negative” test until you’re cured.
HCL: treatment isn’t very connected to that.
More connected to whether you will survive.
But there are more knowledgeable than I here.

I firmly believe that most severe cases of Covid-19 are caused by people being in subclinical vitamin and mineral deficiency. Vitamin D, C, Pantothenic Acid; A, zinc, boron, among others. Then they are hit with this nasty virus and get sick or very sick. Therefore I recommend immediately upping your intake of critical nutrients to fortify your immune system.

Mid-Atlantic areas are reporting that the rate of deaths for blacks and Latinos is higher that for whites. That makes sense because not only are blacks and Latinos more likely to be low income and living in “food deserts”, but their darker skin means they absorb less Vitamin D from sun exposure. Therefore I recommend that all darker skinned people take 5,000 IU of Vitamin D daily unless they are getting a lot of sun exposure on large areas of skin that is not washed for 6 hours after exposure. D is formed in oils on skin and then absorbed into the body over time. No oils no D.

On a separate note, it seems people who don’t have washer/dryers in their dwelling unit are suffering from a serious dirty laundry dilemma. Here are thoughts, solutions, and commiserations about this issue.
