Is DNA driving the rise of young adults dying of coronavirus? Scientists are searching for genetic ‘errors’ that may make some people with NO underlying conditions vulnerable to the virus
Dr Jean-Laurent Casanova of Rockefeller University thinks that these rare, young patients who fall so desperately, seemingly at random, may have invisible risk factors, called ‘inborn errors of immunity.’

CALIFORNIA - South Lake Tahoe - guess what? yes, you have been Wuhan’ed.
Woman, 53, is arrested for licking $1,8000 worth of items inside a California grocery store amid coronavirus pandemic
Jennifer Walker, 53, allegedly licked meats, alcohol and costume jewelry inside the South Lake Tahoe Safeway on Tuesday
She has been booked on suspicion of felony vandalism and is being held on a $10,000 bond
WASHINGTON - Seattle
Seattle GIVES BACK its army field hospital to FEMA before it sees a single patient so it can be sent to a harder-hit state as Washington’s curve of new infections starts to flatten
Nearly 300 soldiers worked to convert the CenturyLink Field Event Center into a hospital to treat non-COVID-19 patients
The makeshift 250-bed hospital has not seen a single patient
It will be returned to FEMA to send to another state harder-hit by the pandemic
Washington state has bought up an additional 1,000 hospital beds and more than 900 ventilators in case of another surge of coronavirus cases
Inslee previously returned 400 of the 500 ventilators Washington received from the federal government, so they could go to states more in need

Daily percentage of new Corona virus deaths to previous day's total by country. 25% = total deaths double every 3 days, 20% = every 4 days, 15% = every 5 days, 10% = about 1 week, 5% = about 2 weeks.

New York hospital sends some ‘borderline’ COVID-19 patients home with oxygen monitors
Since last week, more than 200 people with confirmed or suspected COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the virus, have been sent home with a pulse oximeter to track their oxygen levels. A doctor or nurse practitioner follows up with them via video conference....
Some of the NewYork-Presbyterian patients are also being sent home with a 30lb (14 kg) portable oxygen concentrating machine....
The patient is asked to log their oximeter readings to share with a doctor or nurse practitioner at 12-hour and 24-hour consultations...
No patient in the program is known to have died at home as of Wednesday, but about 15 percent were asked to return to hospital to be admitted...

Interesting downturn in France. I wonder what’s going on with that.
Ha! Pies in the face will always be funny. Johnny Carson was the king!

That plan sounds like it’s working well.
DATA
We have bought more than 50,000 Americans back home from more than 90 counties, Pompeo said. This an effort that is without parallel in our lifetime.
at the briefing this am. was a pretty cool chart showing the flow back to the US but this particular article doesn’t include that
Thanks.
Great news, for France.
Praying we see the same.
THIS is why SK has a handle on transmission and the outbreak. Not because the virus is a pissant one or ‘went away on its own without mitigation’ as some would have you believe. But you can’t do this without a LOT of testing. But you don’t have to lock down every single human being either.
“With almost 6,300 cases and more than 40 reported deaths, South Korea has become home to the worlds largest coronavirus outbreak outside China. As a result, the government in Seoul has taken what it calls maximum action to contain the spread of the diseaseincluding sending thousands of people into mandatory home quarantine.
Now it is launching its latest attempt to keep things from escalating further: a smartphone app that can monitor citizens on lockdown.
The app, developed by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, allows those who have been ordered not to leave home to stay in contact with case workers and report on their progress. It will also use GPS to keep track of their location to make sure they are not breaking their quarantine.
Named self-quarantine safety protection, the sparsely designed service is being launched today for Android smartphones, while an iPhone version is expected to be released on March 20. Officials said it is intended to help manage the increasing case load and prevent cases of super spreaders, who have been blamed for significant numbers of infections.
Lockdown rules
Under current guidelines from the Korean Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, anyone who has come into contact with a confirmed coronavirus carrier is subject to a mandatory two-week self-quarantine. Contact is defined as having been within two meters of a confirmed carrier, or having been in the same room where a confirmed patient has coughed. “
I thought the Amazon rain forest/river story he told, about one American, was an interesting extraction story.
RETAIL
Costco sales jumped by more than $1.5 billion as coronavirus spread in March
Costco Wholesale Corp. late Wednesday said that its March net sales rose nearly 12%, including a 48% jump in online sales,
“Horrifying simulation reveals the dangers of jogging during the coronavirus pandemic: Viral particles from another runner could infect you even if they are six feet ahead - but staying NEXT to them may be safer”
The key is to try to be upwind of others, or at least not downwind. Even jogging next to another person could be risky in a crosswind, if you are also downwind.
One more consideration is how people breathe when jogging, as opposed to walking or just sitting down. If the person is heavily breathing, I wouldn’t even trust the 6 foot rule.
NYC - DATA
‘Cardiac calls’ to 911 in New York City surge, and they may really be more COVID cases
Emergency Medical Services, the part of the fire department that runs the citys paramedic response, is currently responding to three or four times its average daily amount of cardiac calls, with each individual call almost twice as likely to involve a death.
According to the FDNY, it means there are more patients calling 911 closer to death, and many more of them dying despite the best efforts of EMTs and paramedics before they ever reach a hospital.
This phone ‘tracking’ app sounds similar to the one ChiComs are using.
I imagine the way the SKs utilize it (process and methods of tracking, insuring quarantine, etc) are MUCH different (no welded shut doors!), though.
Jogging has always been bad for you.
