What is water glassing eggs?
“My concern is that testing a low prevalence population will result in many false positives unless the test nears 100% specificity. A test our lab is evaluating has 96% clinical specificity. If antibody prevalence is 1%, 80% of positive tests will be false positives.”
I can’t explain this but see such claims often
LOL...I think I remember seeing a few miserable boys, in Clothworld, back then.
What a treasure your dear mom sounds like.
I hope my kids look back on the costumes, etc., that I’ve sewn, over the years....like you do, with your mom.
(I’ve kept most of the costumes that I made....they’re in a box, in the guest room closet. I figure the grands can use them for play.)
I love how you say you’re guarding your mom....really special.

Dr Stephen McColgan, with Vivera Pharmaceuticals talking about the antibodies testing kits, that his company makes.
He said Germany is using same/similar tests, as are several other countries.
Also said that Trump is trying to cut through FDA redtape, but, it’s just a tough thing to do :(

Thanks for the links.
That is fascinating.
You should post that on the homesteading thread.

“A test our lab is evaluating has 96% clinical specificity. If antibody prevalence is 1%, 80% of positive tests will be false positives.”
The test is accurate 96% of the time, wrong 4% of the time. So if 1% of the people have antibodies, you’ll get “1” (0.96) accurate positives and “4” (3.84) false positives. 80% of your positives will be false positives.
“Fortunately” prevalence will be much, much larger than 1% by the time this is over. But I’d rather have 80% false positives than any number of false negatives.
Got a house on 1/4 acre, and my mortgage will be paid off this month. Paid off my Wells Fargo Mile One (Honda) card last month and paid my entire Discover bill this month. Will only have little charges here and there from now on, if I can help it.
Glad to know I can freeze produce. Would I need a vacuum sealer and appropriate bags to pull that off?

I’m trying to teach myself to cook. Made up some broccoli (from frozen) this afternoon, and I can whip up tuna salads upon request. Made a grilled cheese, but using Mexican 4-cheese shreds, since I didn’t have slices, last night. Made a big ol’ mess, with cheese shreds burning on the stove top. Oh, well.

Good planning.
Now for the prepping.......
Was Clay Jenkins the same idiot who visited Thomas (?) Duncan’s house without PPE during the Ebola incident down there?
I’m trying to get back into running. This virus is taking all the fun out of my life.
I’d go to the liquor store, but I don’t want to drink potentially COVID-infested beer, and I must keep a keen mind during this crisis.
Thanks, I’m beginning to see a little light.
Produce can be frozen but it is not the same quality as fresh when it thaws out.
Most recommendations are that the produce be blanched in boiling water for a certain amount of time to destroy the enzymes that will break down the food even frozen.
A vacuum sealer is a good investment as food keeps in the sealed bags MUCH better than in Ziploc bags.
Mr mm found a new source for vacuum sealer bags that we like. He doesn’t care for the Food Saver brand. He thinks they are too flimsy. We liked the Ziploc brand but Runnings quit carrying that.
The new brand he found that he likes is this......
The brand name is Out of Air.

They come in big rolls and are very cost effective.
BTW, you can buy the vacuum sealer machines in camo.
Well if you want a laugh..you should see what happened to prince harrys new foundation site..because he was too stupid to register it. Someone claimed it and it redirects to kanye west song Gold digger
