If we go back to the Spanish Flu, the first wave was less lethal, by far.

This summer, we will go back to business as usual. Life will be good again, it will be warm out. The virus will stall in numbers, but not go away.

Our memories will....

Then fall will come back, the temps will fall, people will be going to huge football games and family gatherings. We will party while whistling past the graveyard.

Then the case count will start to rise. UNLESS we have a treatment or cure by then. By God I hope we do, that is my prayer each day.

If not, this fall/winter will be brutal.

Just called my parents. Geez, they never listen. They’re still taking baked goods and stuff from neighbors. But they know everything and I’m still 6 and stupid.

You won’t see me out and about until the last can of corn in the pantry is opened.

If you get a chance, please read:

I read the post and the comments, including the one about a possible accidental release of the virus from the Wuhan lab.

We may never know the exact origin of this virus, but as I have said many times in the past weeks, what China is doing now, AFTER the virus was unleashed, by withholding its data, is an act of biowarfare.

>>Dallas had 63 new cases today and had to have the government ship a bunch of supplies. People aren’t staying home.

That is because there are no financial institutions open in South Dallas.

Thanks to 30 years of financial red lining starting under FDR and getting outlawed in 1968, there are literally no bank branches or savings and loans offices in South Dallas.

All that is there are check cashing branches and pawn shops...which Judge Clay Jenkins closed as “non-essential” for the last month plus.

The majority of Dallas county commissioners just took away many of Judge Jenkins executive public health powers to get his attention on the matter.

Having no way to cash your paychecks for a month because your White Democratic Chief County judge is an racist idiot utterly honks off black folks for some reason.

Judge Clay Jenkins performance on COVID-19 was moving him into the running to be nominated the next Democratic Party candidate for governor.

Now he won’t win his next Dallas county Democratic Party primary.

SHOULD.

You cannot guarantee *can*.

If you think you are able to do that you have very, very foolishly placed an inordinate amount of trust in the very same government that has given us this debacle.

I spend forever trying to thread the needle. Usually, I give up and continue on with whatever color is on the machine.

I remember Clothworld!

Ahhh....good memories.

LOVED looking at those ‘teen’ patterns, as a little kid :)

Had an aunt and a dear family friend who both sewed. Loved spending time with them, especially when they were sewing.

Ummmm. We just ate the last spaghetti squash from the root bin. Picked last September. I am not a fan of Spaghetti squash, fresh it is watery and stringy. But this was at a different level. Golden orange flesh, not yellow, texture was crunchy, all the carbs had basically converted to sugars. Wife made it into a pasta like dish, garlic, onions and mussels. Dahm gud.
Still have a candy roaster, some acorn and butternut. Winter squash really needs to age properly before you eat it.

She is now water glassing our extra eggs from the hens. They will last fresh for a year.

The old ones didn’t call it prepping. They called it knowing how to live.

I can’t even see stuff like that up close anymore.

I spent my whole life near sighted. Could see fine up close, nothing far away without glasses. Now I can’t see up close or far away. Getting old is challenging!

We planted some heirloom spaghetti squash the first time a few years ago. We had so many we gave a way a ton, and still had enough to eat until the next spring. Before I even had a chance to seed it again, I guess some that had died on the vine reseeded and it nearly took over our garden lol.

If you have space if is a great vegetable, that keeps well. We top it with crushed tomatoes, olive oil and basil. Yummy!

I’d never heard of water glassing (fresh) eggs.

How interesting!

You can do all kinds of things with the water glassing solution.

It was a nightmaaaaare for a young boy, I tell you. C’mon, son, we’re going to Clothworld. NOOOOOOOOOooooooooo!

Much later on, my mom sewed my brother the coolest homemade t-rex costume for Halloween that I have ever seen on anyone in my life. He was the envy of everyone that year, and he loved it.

She’s the best, and I’m guarding her with everything I have!
