Capt. Brett Crozier was removed from his post as commanding officer of the San Diego-based USS Theodore Roosevelt, but he got a heros sendoff from his sailors as he left the aircraft carrier in Guam.
Video shared by sailors on social media shows a significant number of the crew cheering, applauding and chanting Croziers name as he exited the vessel.
The captain was relieved of command over the way he spread a memo wrote to Navy leadership desperately calling for swift action after a major coronavirus outbreak aboard the Roosevelt.

Popular with the men....that means something.
How many of those ships have the ability to handle biohazard quarantine? The pictures I’ve seen of lots of medical professionals, they’re wearing more for this than the Ebola outbreak. Granted the media fluffed the previous president daily, it looks pretty bad. There’s no immunity, there’s no vaccine.
I watched a video of a doctor explaining how it kills. It attacks the type 2 epithelial cells, causing pneumonia. There’s even some on here that said it was no worse than the regular flu, some even saying only a little worse than the common cold. I’m pretty sure doctors and nurses don’t wear sealed suits with air masks to treat people with the flu.
What has happened to the military??? Isnt it regularly trained to operate in NBC environments? I know I was. Maintain good fitness and hygiene in biological attacks, but never sacrifice the mission.
No. We are not currently at war, but we could be. Exposing information regarding the militarys ability to survive and operate in biological attacksor lack thereofmakes us much less secure.
This commander is a joke. Hes supposed to keep that carrier ready for war, not bitch and whine to the media (assuming he leaked his letter to the press). Mission first! The military isnt supposed to curl up in a ball and give up, especially when the current threat is a virus that is almost zero threat to young, healthy military members.
Shows how far the has Navy slipped. This shows a lack respect for the chain of command and a lack of discipline. Yes our enemies are getting an eyeful. This should not have happened. That this “captain” allowed this tells me removing him was exactly the right thing to do.
2banana, I totally agree. If this ships crew seriously think they should shut down an entire carrier group over COVID19, what will they do when facing a real threat?
Seriously? What the world are these folks doing on a carrier at all if they cant handle a virus? Is it about safety? Well, working on a carrier is probably a bit more dangerous than making coffee at a Starbucks. If these jokers are so concerned about a virus that they want to take down a carrier group, maybe they should all be in a different line of work. Its called national defense!
If this was an enemy attacking, these men and women would do their jobs bravely. Look at conditions they proudly served in in Afghanistan and Iraq. They proved themselves.
But this isn't that. This is something their weapons and training don't cover.
If we can't protect the men and women who serve, then how could we expect them to fight the enemy?
I can’t ever recall a time when the Army grunt cheered either General Patton or General MacArthur. I think it can be said that both were hated but admired (viz., the MacArthur speech at West Point). In both cases the Devil was given his due, but never in a rah-rah sendoff. P.S. So you think our U.S.Navy is in shape? Just check the problems at the Naval Academy and the number of captains relieved from duty.
Not sure the Navy didn’t have it under control. He knew the Media would have a field day. We will know if he runs for President on the Dem. ticket.
If the ship's crew find out the upper ranks have 0% concern for their well being, what will they do when facing a real threat?
Would you prefer the U.S. be like the U.S.S.R in World War II. As an American, I say no way.
By the way, he didn't even release it the media.
Can you have it in your heart that others in the US military depend on the combat power of that aircraft carrier and its mission to protect their very lives?
And that the world can change overnight?
That is their goal. They are working at it 24/7/365. And the sheep, both on and off this forum are in their power to help are doing everything in their power to aid and abet them. The resistance don’t give a damn about the Captain. They don’t give a damn about the ship. They don’t give a damn about the sailors. All they care about is how can this be used to remove President Trump from Office.
I have utmost respect for most in the military but not all. Not every active duty members deserve respect simply because they wear the uniform. As in all jobs, some are there simply for the $ and seek to do the bare minimum to earn it. Its rather simplistic to say everyone in the military is somehow honorable no matter how they serve.
Regarding this virus, the active duty IS trained to operate in a biological attack. Plus, the concept of chain of command is something that is pounded into every service members head from day one. Got a problem? Work it through your chain of command. Dont air dirty laundry to a media that is clearly out to sensationalize and frame every revelation in a way to best tear this country apart!
Framing it that way, it sounds like the media talking about Trump. Your assumption is the captain has ZERO concern for his crew if he doesnt shut down the carrier? Maybe its possible to have both mission success and concern for the troops in a hierarchy of goals. What about actually learning how to deal with the virus problem while still accomplishing the mission? Thats not typically an either or consideration.
Exactly correct
I didn’t say anything about shutting down the carrier.
Gayness abounds
Throw em all in the brig !
The rot runs deep. Every “soldier” cheering should be fired and hung from the nearest a tree. If you do not trust the perfect job the Trump administration is doing, at this point you’re the enemy.
