Capt. Brett Crozier was removed from his post as commanding officer of the San Diego-based USS Theodore Roosevelt, but he got a heros sendoff from his sailors as he left the aircraft carrier in Guam.
Video shared by sailors on social media shows a significant number of the crew cheering, applauding and chanting Croziers name as he exited the vessel.
The captain was relieved of command over the way he spread a memo wrote to Navy leadership desperately calling for swift action after a major coronavirus outbreak aboard the Roosevelt.

Maybe they were happy to see him go?
The media is really spinning this one.
How many Carriers did Obama’s Navy have at sea when Trump took office?
This will require a political solution but it is the right thing to do. We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die. If we do not act now, we are failing to properly take care of our most trusted assest
This leader is in charge of one of the twelve most powerful warships in the history of America and the world. No more than 5 or 6 are deployed at any one time. Literally 20% of Americans forward deployed combat power.
How about this:
Send a factual status to the chain of command. Figure a way to deal with the situation and to continue the mission with a huge chunk of Americas forward deployed combat power. Because we actually may need that power, sometimes overnight, to protect American troops.
This virus rarely kills the young and healthy (CDCs numbers are well below 1% of those sick enough to warrant a test and are probablyin the 0.001% range for all young/healthy exposed). You have large amounts of medical personnel aboard and the assets of the entire US Navy to assist.
This is not some office in Scranton making mortgage loans.
Instead, what should have been a TS level status brief turns into an embarrassing public situation, leaked to the press by this “leader,” that has paralyzed a national asset because a few dudes got the sniffles and the Captain sh!t in his pants.
All in front of the Chinese who are taking notes.
Those sailors have no clue how the Captain endangered their ship
by sending an unsecured email.
You didn’t see the video of nearly the whole ship’s crew standing there to see him off? The Captain is a hero to his men because he stood up for them. I knew the other day when the top enlisted sailor in the Navy openly criticized him that his days were numbered. This retired Army Officer considers him a hero and wishes him God speed in his future challenges.
And showed that he had never even given them the slightest awareness of keeping distance from each other.
ChiComs are taking notes... perilous times.
It’s more than embarrassing. It’s a disastrous PR situation for the Navy and the arm chair Admirals in Washington. The media and government have done all they can to scare the wits out of everyone and so when the Captain knows the virus is spreading among his crew, he wanted to do something about it. He said if it was war, we would fight sick. But it’s not war and he did the right thing.
This is likely a war.
I actually have another question, now that this feckless CO is gone - how far down does the rot reach? I would imagine there will be a close look at his XO and department heads. Did any of them advise him, hey skipper, instead of sending that, here are some things we ourselves on this birdfarm could do to help get this under control all by our lonesomes. And if you could just ask for x, y and z it would help out a lot [this is what in the Navy is connoted by “loyalty” which is not blind obedience, but rather my CO is going to fail over my dead body, however intent he is on a disastrous course of action.]
You can see the Resistance busily at work, all day, every day, on Twitter.
Thousands upon thousands of little hammer blows, 24/7/365 - all with one aim.
Remove Trump and re-establish the rule of the Hillary-ites and the 0bama-ites.
I wonder if Crozier is gay? An Obama promotion. He certainly acts more like a Pentagon weenie than a line officer.
As a CDR of US Navy Carrier you better assume every day is a day “at war”...or they should be relieved.
The Captain is a hero to his men because he stood up for them.
...
He’s in trouble for leaking the letter to the press.
The only thing he accomplished is endangering his crew. He failed to go up the line of command, he had already spoken to the brass and they were making arrangements, and worst of all he sent the letter by unsecured email copying some 20 people. At least one of them leaked it to the media and Im pretty sure the Chinese got a good laugh at the kind of weaklings we put in charge.
While he was waiting he should have come up with a plan instead of sounding like a teenage girl needing Midol.
he worked to preserve the safety of his men and kept their lives from being jeopardized for no even though it got him fired by a pentagon weenie who would rather men get sick or die than have political blowback from covid being on the boat. Thats the moral fiber of a good line officer.
It's a desire quality of those in command. It's called initiative.
You are correct, they are sacrificing this good man who is puting his career and reputation on the line for the sake of his service-people which is what good commanders do. The Pentagon is still too full of Obama-placed Islamist sympathizing bad actors after he fired most of the patriots. The State Department, FBI, CIA and Homeland also still need cleaning.
