Your link, “Iowa had reported 549 cases of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. Sixty-one patients were hospitalized. At least 7,304 people have tested negative for the coronavirus; nine people have died.”

That still doesn’t answer the question of how many cases does Iowa have because that’s merely how many the CDC has giving their gold stamp of approval and recorded. Testing stinks. Tack on a zero and you’re closer to the true number, so 73,040.

“China now recommending families prep with 3 to 6 months of food!...That’s some serious prepping!”

Sounds about right, as the spread of the virus will start to impact food producers (infected employees). Hopefully, in 6 months, the case load will become more manageable and food production can get back to near-normal.

Sheepish look - sorry 🙃 About Albany - when they had their first spate of deaths, I had read about the two funerals, with the overlapping mourners 😓 and prayed that once they negotiated that surprise things would ease off. Then I read about what looks like another big jump in today’s death numbers, and I cannot help but think they are just overwhelmed. Take care FRiend, and stay well. Tatt

Until the entire world goes into a 21 day lockdown together, we’ll all be having intermittent lockdowns until we give up and let everyone die.

“LOL. Yes weren’t we sold on a 60% infection rate not long ago?”

Without mitigation a 60% infection rate would have been likely.

In the long run, a nearly 100% infection rate is certain (including vaccinated). We just need it to happen slow enough to avoid a crashed economy and HCS.

We’re fortunate to have something on the order of a 1% infection rate.

We are seeing the equivalent of 9 flu seasons simultaneously - 10 if you include the common flu. Our HCS can’t handle that indefinitely.

“The reinfection stories, while there are enough of them to not dismiss it out of hand, are likely the result of incomplete recovery (relapse) or exposure to a different strain. Likely. Highly likely, even. But not certain, because this virus as so many weapons in its arsenal that little would surprise me at this point.”

That about matches my thoughts on re-infection. What I think happens in these cases is that re-infected person gets a bad case of the virus, to at least the point of hospitalization, and has some permanent, maybe undetected, damage - and then when the virus comes around again, he simply doesn’t have the needed defenses for it.

“The owner of it is eastern European, embracing capitalism. I take the political views with a grain of salt, but the financial commentary is ok.”

I basically treat them no different than CNN or others - I believe them on a case-by-case basis, after checking other sources.

“Debating if some people who thinks it is just a flu is getting misinformation from ChiCom and Russians.”

Some of them ARE the ChiComs and the Russians. But mostly ChiComs.

Trump is sending supplies out of country. Nearly fell out of my seat when he said that. Being nice to others is one thing but take care of us first.

“I can’t even make myself go into the store anymore due to terror.”

We don’t go into stores, but we do curbside. So if that’s available, do that, and buy non-perishables, if you don’t have refer/freezer space.

When you pick up, just be sure to be upwind when the guy hands you the device to sign for the food. He won’t know the difference, but you’ll be safe. If you want, you can wear gloves to handle the food - and then let it sit for a few days while the virons, if any, die off...although I don’t know of that type of transmission from my Asian sources.

“Until the entire world goes into a 21 day lockdown together, we’ll all be having intermittent lockdowns until we give up and let everyone die.”

I’ve been thinking the same - maybe, at least, certain countries do that, and then fully isolate themselves from other countries.

Otherwise, you’re right, until there’s a vaccine, the virus will keep coming back.

Hence, given that, it makes sense to keep prepping - the virus will come in waves, and when people go back to ‘normalcy’ between waves, that is the time to again STOCK UP!

President Trump addressed low stockpiles yesterday during the Presser. Acquired resources are being dropshipped directly to the states that need them most right now instead of to a warehouse only to be resent out and adding days to the process. Stuffing the stockpile will be done after the emergency.

At least you’re bargaining now.

Did I mention that the use of exclamation points per sentence is inversely proportional to intelligence? The number for normal intelligence is much less than 1.

“All numbers are greatly subject to unknown factors and real world developments “

We could come out with a good treatment. The US manufactures come through with a huge amount of ventilators.

A lot of variables. I am hoping we maintain the social distancing.
