I honestly think you have it backwards. I havent panicked at all when it comes to the viral outbreak, but I believe the economic consequences will be devastating because the response of the American citizenry has given me no reason to be confident in the future of this country anymore.
Ditto. The hysterical panic of my fellow citizens has left me without much hope on the economic front. The fumes we've been running on since the Baby Boom generation took over are quickly running out.

You are delusional...you are about where I was 3 weeks ago. Youll see in a few weeks the economic devastation that this is causing and youll be about where I am now. Yes, Trump can say anything he wants, but the media will be against him 24/7/365 AND youll be looking at massive unemployment rates, period. THe odds of him being re-elected, IMO, have gone from 60-70% to 25% and if this goes through the end of APril - or worse longer - I give it a 10% chance, max.
Agree. The economic carnage of the past two weeks was nothing compared to what's coming. The doctors who advised Trump to do this will be nowhere to be found when the reckoning comes in November.

I couldn’t escape the rancid debt number associated with them, but you are right about them running that business into the ground before COVID-19.
How about Macy’s and their furlough?
Laura Ashley bankruptcy?

To: Roman_War_Criminal
How about Macys and their furlough? I think they will survive as an entity but only in the most promising malls and other locations. This is just going to hurry along the decline of most malls.
Used to shop at Kaufmann's all the time. Had the best men's department. Once they got bought by Macy's, their focus changed. Can still get good deals there, but it's not where I would go for a suit any longer.
The point is that millions of people will have no job to go back to, regardless of when these stay at home orders are lifted.

And the common man wants simple to understand treatments to help him get thru the crisis and meds that will help.

You guys are hilarious. You have this picture of Donald Trump as some kind of bumbling idiot who JUST listens to Fauci and Birx. That's it. He wakes up every day and asks them how to run the country. Nobody else gets any input. He doesn't study anything. He doesn't ask any other advisers. Doesn't keep up with current economic activity. Doesn't keep up with the medical situation. Somehow he's been hoodwinked by "doctors".

Don't worry, DouglasKC says everything will be just fine! /sarcasm But seriously hope he got a decent severance and good luck to you all. I wish you luck as well. It's not ME being optimistic about the economy. It comes directly from President Trump.
To: Roman_War_Criminal
How about Macys and their furlough? Macy's has been running on it's own name for decades. They've just been fortunate to have the fortune of fat economic times. If I had to bet I would bet that a lot of these marginal retail chains are going to use the excuse of the virus to bankrupt and grab federal funds as they go out the door.
To: Fury
I worry about retail, all of it.
Fast food joints will be needed once this clears up.
If this can convince manufacturers to bring it all back here, then we may dodge this total economic wipe-out.
I will never understand however how the ship hasn’t sunk with our national debt at the levels it is.

We’ve NEVER shut the economy down! No one has any freaking idea what’s coming next - there is a reason they literally just injected $6 TRILLION into the economy last week!

Trump: Gee what do we do?
Doctor Fauci: Shut down the country for a year?
Trump: Okay. What about all the jobs.
Doctor Birx: Print 6 trillion dollars.
Trump: Okay.
I'm pretty sure there's a master plan. They don't know EXACTLY what's going to happen but you can bet they have a 110% better idea than you and I do.

One reason--the US Dollar. Lose that, and it's game over, man.

Printing money does not create wealth, it in fact destroys it. All the government is doing is picking winners and losers. Trump is being manipulated by the deep state here and he knows he’s lost in a no win situation at this point.

I don't think Trump is an idiot. I think he's being manipulated. Because obviously he's been manipulated his entire life and his entire Presidency....
