Checked the USGS map and the Idaho quakes (there were about four aftershocks looked like 3.0 or so) are about 125 miles directly West of Yellowstone.
Information I've seen on the magma chamber shows it extending 90-100 miles to the SW of Yellowstone, so the quakes are close but not truly centered on the chamber.
Since we have a clear view of the North edge of the caldera rim from The Homestead's kitchen window, I've got a whole lot more than academic interest in Yellowstone.
Didn't notice anything at all when that quake hit, but guess they're so common around The 'Stone we just tune the little ones out.
If that bugger ever does do something serious I think you'll hear me without the 'net.
I did see there have been a number of aftershocks. In Dutchsinse report, he considered the 7.5 in Russia leading to this 6.5 in Idaho and said he’d be looking for something next to hit near Alaska (inbetween) but lower magnitude since this was shallow earthquake.
The earth quakes around the world, and especially in USA, are awfully frequent and for sure a cause for concern. And what timing—we already have enough crisis. Prayers up for all the natural disasters to just stop for a while.
