Here’s The Food People Refuse To Buy Even During A Pandemic
Daily Caller ^ | March 27, 2020 | Marlo Safi

If eyes are windows to the soul, what was left behind in the grocery stores after coronavirus panic buying are windows to what Americans won’t eat even in extreme circumstances.

People began sharing pictures on social media of what items were left behind after the shopping surge. The foods — such as cauliflower crust pizza or chocolate hummus — and the empty shelves once stocked with more appetizing foods are juxtaposed.

Carrot spirals were unpopular enough that Twitter users from different Trader Joe’s locations shared their pictures of the same stacked up boxes.

Chocolate and buffalo hummus were also left behind, confirming that the flavored hummus debate hasn’t been settled.

Vegan and plant-based can be seen in proportions that appear recently stocked.

On the Walmart website right now, a 24-pack of Dasani water is $4.48 so that’s 18.7 cents per bottle.

The store brand Great Value water is $2.86 for 40 bottles, so that’s 7.1 cents for the same size bottle.

Both are said to be “flavor enhanced” with minerals. I have tried neither.

For perspective, in a convenience store, bottles of water (any brand) are $1.00-$1.50.

As for the bottles themselves, I have noticed that once empty, dogs love to chew on them.

Wasn’t it James Beard who supposedly said Manhattan clam chowder was horrendous?

I love fish, but find it too darn expensive..
Salmon in a can from Aldi's is where I'm at.. :(

Dasani is produced by Coca-Cola and is basically NYC tap water. I couldn’t find this to document it, but that’s what I was told long ago. We used to get it free at work.

I liked it because it tasted like what I was used to.

Yes, I think so; however, my mother called it “garbage soup” as a kid, so beat him to the punch by decades. :-)

I’m a one man paper conservation project. The farmer’s porch blow clears the breathing tubes just fine, although my wife thinks it gross.

Well, I dunno.

They are recommended pantry items by good chefs.

I also have a lot of fish in my freezer. And not the breaded or fried kind.

"Does anyone know what is wrong with dasani water?"

Always have avoided it on the possibility that it is bottled in Pakistan or Yemen... Snicker...

OTOH, the biggest source of bottled water are the wells in Michiganistan...

So, it's almost a case of: Pick your poison...

Well, I don’t actually carry a roll around with me - sometimes you have to bend to polite society.

(But if I were riding a mower I might :-)

You’ve probably had answers but here is one:

Dasani is a brand of bottled water created by the Coca-Cola Company,
launched in 1999,[1] after the success of PepsiCo’s Aquafina. It is
one of many brands of Coca-Cola bottled water sold around the world.
The product is tap water, filtered and bottled, with added sodium.

The way my nose was running, carrying it on the mower was a necessity. I carry a roll in the car in lieu of kleenex, too.
