Looks like soap and water are best for killing viruses. Hand sanitizers are okay but must be at least 60% alcohol. Very interesting article.

Good ol hot soap and water. Always believed in that.
Alcohol was intended to be used as medicine from the inside out. Always believed in that.
Hand sanitizers are for girly men. Always believed in that
Gin and Quinine water anyone? Had my first one yesterday, not bad

No, it’s not you...I’m so sick of this kind of “news”. Who really needs it? Not that it’s inappropriate; but it does seem to fall under the “Non-essential” category of things to be immediately concerned with.

Isn’t the answer obvious? Soap & water at home & where available, and sanitizer when you’re out and soap & water aren’t readily available.

What I've learned from FR. The virus molecule isn't very complicated and is broken up with soap. Once it loses a component, it's rendered inert.
Wash your hands frequently, with soap, for twenty seconds.
I've also learned that the virus can live for up to seventeen days on an inanimate surface. So the package of bread I bring home, I either have to wash it, with soap, for twenty seconds, or quarantine it in my basement for seventeen days. Otherwise, when I open the wrapper, and reach in and touch a piece of bread.......
The possibilities are overwhelming.

Some evidence exists that the virus can be transmitted through the skin with cracked skin or cuts. So not sure if the “wash your hands until they are raw” is the best advice.
Also - I got a Staph infection through raw hands once. Laid me up in a small-town hospital far from home for three days. The doctor said I was lucky as if it had gone any longer (I thought I sprained my thumb) they would have had to amputate.
It happened again while home, and my real doctor said the other doctor was probably pulling my leg??!!
I wash my hands often, but once I’m in my clean house, I’ll use hand sanitizer every-other-time as it is less harsh. Also use hand lotion before bed.

Remember that hand sanitizer is a convenience and substitute for soap and water. It is not the other way around.

My hands have been looking like Dolores Claiborne’s. I have not used hand cream for weeks.

Hand washing is good. But, this stuff is airborne infectious like crazy.

I think the virus is being spread most in locations where it isn't culturally necessary for people to wash their hands at all. It looks like fecal-oral COVID-19 transmission is the leading method - and a media attempt is being made to take attention away from the fact that the USA's imported Third World sanitation is producing the expected Third World results.
