Some evidence exists that the virus can be transmitted through the skin with cracked skin or cuts. So not sure if the “wash your hands until they are raw” is the best advice.
Also - I got a Staph infection through raw hands once. Laid me up in a small-town hospital far from home for three days. The doctor said I was lucky as if it had gone any longer (I thought I sprained my thumb) they would have had to amputate.
It happened again while home, and my real doctor said the other doctor was probably pulling my leg??!!
I wash my hands often, but once I’m in my clean house, I’ll use hand sanitizer every-other-time as it is less harsh. Also use hand lotion before bed.
I got a staph infection in my thumb once from cleaning our bathroom during a remodel project.
From then on I ALWAYS clean it with nitrile gloves, which is why I always have a good store of it and was not caught flat footed with this all hit the fan 2 weeks ago.
