Oh good grief! What a nightmare.
Let’s hope it’s ‘just the flu’.
They were the smart people. You can’t just head off for Shangri-La.
NYers will be the ones infecting the entire nation. Like they are such whinnies they couldn’t just stay home.
But the slow burn doesn't overwhelm the healthcare system and people are more likely to survive it if they can get treatment.
We are so spoiled in this country that many people resent the imposition of anything on their selfish lives.
Sometimes thinking of others involves a little personal sacrifice. A short time of inconvenience can mean life or death for someone.
It also helps us get our attention focused back on what's really important.
Because they had only one person for the longest time. Like just last week?
It’s so easy to kid yourself that it can’t happen here.
The US should have done what India’s doing. This half a$$ed you stay home but you other 6 people can go about your daily business isn’t doing much of anything. Flattening the curve should have been bulldozing the curve out of existence.
Lemme ask this further.
If you had prescribed an antimalarial, a month ago, for pneumonia...?
From the other side of the house, I’m wondering just how many compounds we have for affliction X that might be curative or protective for afflictions Y, Z, A, B, C... Where X and Y are completely unrelated afflictions.
Prior to HTS, that would have been a dodgy thing to discern. Now I’m envisioning a giant warehouse of HTS equipment and every compound in the pharmacopia vs. (scary affliction Y, Z, A, B, C...). Where Y is something public health officials fear.
Or Nebbuchanezzar.
Good question...is it the (underlying) disease, or the meds treating such, that makes a person more at risk?
Yippee....be sure to quaratine those Amazon packages for DAYS 🙃
Plaquenil is an antiinflammatory drug first and foremost. It’s use in any setting where inflammation is an issue would not be outside of the standard of care.
If that was the person, who said made that inane statement about POTUS, I’m glad they were canned.
I’m going to go farther and say if people don’t follow FR they will get it through overconfidence.
I bought a bunch of cabbages the 3rd week of Feb. Been using on those since. Once they run out...it’s a waiting game for my garden to produce.
Which brings up another question. How long do virii survive on the surface of foods. Would it depend on the food? (acidic stuff vs. lettuce) Is it the same amount of time as something like cardboard? Are there enzymes or other processes on the surface of produce that might break this thing down? Would it be different from norovirus or other pathogens?
Putin wears hazmat suit and visits CV victims.
_That_ is how it is done, folks.
You can bet every single Russian gets _that_ message.

Good gosh...that’s a LOT of (Amazon) warehouses.
Probably the one that handles our area :(
We are spraying ALL deliveries...then, leaving outside for days. What about what’s INSIDE packages? :- O
Do sunlight (UV rays) kill this? I can’t remember if we conclusively decided, on that.
The ice cream lady didn’t think ahead. Ice cream isn’t necessary. Ice cream shops, along with cookie and muffin shops, are nothing but a frivolity. She must never have heard of “don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” Wouldn’t think ice cream in the middle of winter sells much in CT.
That sounds like good practice under any circumstance.
But it seems to be antiviral as well.
I guess I need to understand how the antiinflammatory nature might aid in pathogen clearance. If those are in fact related. Or a happy circumstance has been found with this particular drug. One more thing for a ‘todotab’ on my browser.
Another question I have is...drug A was found to be ineffective against pathogen X. But now that we have HTS we can test drug A in combination with a lot of other stuff. How many compounds do we have now that, in combination with something we’d have never thought might be relevant, might work against scary microbes.
I ask because it seems from initial research that the HCQ/azithromycin combination aids in viral clearance over and above the simple antibiotic prevention of secondary infections.
I blame our tax system.
Businesses are punished for having inventory excess and too much cash on hand.
100 years ago businesses would have never run so lean. Scary pathogens abounded and you never knew if you were going to be shut down for this or that health reason. Or even if your workers would be ‘out sick’ with this or that. And YOU might be the one that got sick. Wars, pestilence, anything might happen. Domestic businesses have gotten soft during good times. And our tax system punishes any that might have a prepper attitude to keep extra inventory or cash balance.
Antibiotics and vaccines have spoiled us into thinking it was always happy sunshine times.
Who thought when we changed our clocks on March 8 we were going from standard time to the twilight zone.
