Ya oughta take a drive over to Ivins. Coming in from the highway on Snow Canyon Parkway you’ll think you’re driving through Palm Desert with all the gated condo communities.
Wife’s Dad was born in Ivins, and we had talked of him taking residence at the fairly new VA Southern Utah Veteran’s Home out there but things didn’t go on that long.

I don’t know if I could handle Ivins, now. When I lived there is was just red clay that got into everything, and most of the houses were manufactured homes. There was a minimart that housed the general store and the post office.
It was such a small close-knit community that my Favorite Son, who was in the army at Ft Carson CO, sent a letter addressed to “Mom” and I got it. I still have it!
With the growth on the old road (Telegraph) and the growth here in Hurricane, I don’t know if I could bear to see Ivins and Santa Clara. My BiL spends time at the new VA in Ivins, but I’ve only seen photos of it.
This area is growing too fast.
