Well, I’m not sure. I knew that there was more pectin in the unripe fruit, but I have known it so long, I have no idea how I learned it. I know she told me why she added the unripe fruit—just hazy on how she explained it.

She also taught me to make bread and make butter from cream.

I don’t think think you are very familiar with the operational specifics or back-up staffing plans of my local nuclear plant.

We do have some Asparagus. It’s not my favorite-hubby likes it though. We have “wild” asparagus that came from no telling where—it was just there when we cleared the area. And we have some that we planted.

I agree 100% about home grown tomatoes. Just not summer with out them.

One of the reasons I think my father was able to produce so well (other than a natural green thumb) was manure.

There were horses that fenced up to our back yard. My dad asked the neighbors to save the horse manure for period of time before he started his garden early each spring spring. They kept piles of it and my dad and brothers would shovel it over the fence. Then he’d roter tiller it into the soil.

(Btw I did not inherit my dads green thumb)

I got this from the wife of a Freeper who was talking to an aide of a city councilwoman in their city. The initial subject was her children in the city schools. The aide told her, at the end of their conversation, that the aide's councilwoman had been notified of the rolling blackout teleconference by someone from the Department of Homeland Security during a briefing to the whole City Council earlier that day. I.e., this was in the line of duty.

Sources should not be burned. Note that my No. 688 has some interesting information about China. Those sources will not be burned either.

Because here is what the CNBC article said:

"The coronavirus survived for up to 17 days aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship, living far longer on surfaces than previous research has shown.

So, the virus was "living"? Okay...

The question is - was in still infectious? Was it inactivated? RNA can be detected in an inactivated virus.

I believe that CNBC was using the word "survive" to suggest the virus was still infectious, given the tone of the article.

Maybe fake news is too strong. How about DECEPTIVE NEWS?

Now might be a good time to start an entertaining pool on when General Secretary for Life Xi gets his 9mm resignation notice.

Or, incomplete news.

Hubby and I have been wondering about that, as well...was it still infectious, after being found (on DP) after 17 days?

I surmised it had to be, to be detected.

I could be wrong.

Here’s the actual CDC report that the news outlets (including CNBC) are getting this 17 day info from....

https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6912e3.htm?s_cid=mm6912e3_w

The 17 day part...

....SARS-CoV-2 RNA was identified on a variety of surfaces in cabins of both symptomatic and asymptomatic infected passengers up to 17 days after cabins were vacated on the Diamond Princess but before disinfection procedures had been conducted (Takuya Yamagishi, National Institute of Infectious Diseases, personal communication, 2020). Although these data cannot be used to determine whether transmission occurred from contaminated surfaces, further study of fomite transmission of SARS-CoV-2 aboard cruise ships is warranted.....

Doesn’t say, conclusively.

“But the Basmati rice must be delivered.”

LOL. Never heard of it until I was deep into prepping and needed to find a low Glycemic Index rice for my wife (well, relatively low) for our doomsday scenario (when we go on to carbs). Now we’re ‘well stocked’ on that.

RNA can be detected in inactivated viruses (e.g. vaccines)

Lookner needs to remember there are no good options left.

Once you realize that, you calm down...

It was two months ago when I realized how much of a mess this would be...I was hyperventilating a bit and wife asked...are you planning on dying? I stopped...thought for a second and replied. “No.” From that moment on, I was free of any anxiety over this virus.

Yup, we lost our fair season. Haven’t a nickel to our name...but we have some food and own our house. Whatever. There are things I can control and things I can not.

Midnight run : Part A
No cases in our county, made midnight run into town mailing letter. Ran by the hospital. Hadn’t been by there for a year. No activity tonight.
