course, China’s numbers are bogus, but it does serve as a kind of benchmark, given that we know it’s at least as bad as they’ve admitted.
Date to reach 100,000 cases: 3/26/20
Date to reach 1,000,000 cases: 4/3/20
Numbers are based on the reported confirmed cases by Johns Hopkins and Worldometers.
You guys were homesteaders before it was a craze...lol.
Sounds wonderful.
We grew up with lots of fruit trees, but I can’t remember my folks ever canning.
I DO remember loving summer, though...for all of the fresh fruit.
You dont have to take my word for it. https://twitter.com/ScottGottliebMD
Ive been posting his advice and warnings since late January. I believe had we taken his advice early, we wouldnt be having to make these difficult balancing act decisions today.
Singapore is doing it, so it is (at least was) doable.
Approximately 35% of reported patients with MERS-CoV infection have died, but this may be an overestimate of the true mortality rate, as mild cases of MERS may be missed by existing surveillance systems and until more is known about the disease, the case fatality rates are counted only amongst the laboratory-confirmed cases. Fortunately it did not spread as easily though.
While your rate is accurate based on closed cases there are too many open cases to know if those figures you present will hold true. My point that panic helps in no way against this virus, is still a valid point.
Pictures and video will leak.
We almost ran out of beds from the flu.
Not good
Eesh. Maybe hugging, sharing appetizers, salt shakers. Still insane how this thing spreads.
Thank you Robert. Im born and raised American, spent 10 years in the US Infantry. Ive had two Chinese wives in my life, the first one is now on the Homeland Security watch/no fly list, my current wife is the swwwtest human I have ever met. Ive got two sets of relatives in China, and stay in touch with all of them.
I love the people of China. My God I hate the CCP.
During the Cold War I spent 3 years in Berlin, and we did a lot against the Soviets.
The Soviets were whiny liberals compared to the CCP and PLA.
Yes. It will leak. I just hope its someone that understands to keep the damn camera horizontal. Its so much easier to watch that on a big screen.
We certainly agree on that!
While your rate is accurate based on closed cases there are too many open cases to know if those figures you present will hold true.
I understand that there are too many open cases to know if those figures will hold. But do you have any concrete reason to believe that with the flood of cases (real or imagined) that will soon hit hospitals, that the fatality numbers we are seeing in the U.S. will improve?
Given the numbers as they stand, do you think that it is wise to take measures, even drastic ones, to prevent the spread of a disease that, to the best of our knowledge has such a high closed case fatality rate?
But I really am interested as much in your answers to the other points, too.
This was a few days before the restaurants were closed to inside dining.
Also, he probably infected the wait staff and who knows who else (restroom, etc.)
What a mess.
We haven’t been to a restaurant in at least six weeks...and, that was for take out at a local place that is spotless.
I have a friend who is single and she doesn’t like to cook. I told hubby that I bet she’s in the long McDonalds line (BARF!!).
I can’t believe people are still eating restaurant food. I realize some don’t have a choice (maybe traveling), but, seriously, LEARN to COOK!
I know of doctors who have died of this CoVid-19 virus, I was referring to the flu. If doctors die because of the flu how are we going to know about them? They do not report them.
Oh, like I said, I’ve appreciated him. Very down to earth and fact-based.
We’re not Singapore, we’re the engine of the economic world.
Even China had a much milder outbreak outside of Hubei province and I expect to see a very variable outbreak here.
No reason to keep shut down areas that have few cases.
I imagine he was hacking all over everyone at his party.
Yuck!
Hubby doesn’t know if the guy is in the hospital, or not.
My mom was exhausted. It was pretty crazy. But, I look back on those rims as uniting family time . But, My dad used lots of chemicals. He was old school. He stopped after my moms first case of lymphoma 18 years ago. He passed in 05. Then I got AML. She passed from Hodgkins last August. My dad didnt realize the issue until she got sick the first time. I wont use chemicals. Its just not a necessary risk.
I just read this article on the new normal in China. We are going to have problems, the FluBros are a problem. The gov will have to pull back the curtain some and bring them up to speed.
People have to get off that right wing, left wing, what end of the political spectrum are we on here type thinking.
Its novel virus pandemic time. The old rules dont apply. We have to develop a new way of living that returns sanctity to human life and recognizes human life as our most valuable asset.
We can go back to calling each other commies and fascists afterwards.
Thank you, best wishes to you as well. My county area (Benton-Franklin) has 16 known cases and three deaths so we haven’t escaped it.
I sat in a training room at work - hm, before it got bad but while it was known and very much on my radar- the week of Feb. 24th with two sick people.
I was coming unglued, though I figured it wasnt what they had. I was a fanatic about not touching my face, using wipes, washing my hands, etc.
I never got what either of them had so that is a real testament to the power of not touching your face but had they had CV - I probably would have gotten it being in that small room.
Link was bad, this should work
