While we should err on the side of preserving life, reality is we will not put in the effort to save every life that can be saved.
It won’t happen.
Life must go on.
No man or woman carries a heavier burden that POTUS right now.
From what I gather you are Chinese who has become an American, by choice and still have family back in China, and that is your source for on the ground information. I won't quiz you further to see if I am correct, out of fear that I might put your family still there in undue jeopardy.
I had 2 competing suspicions regarding how the virus unfolded there and their seemingly miraculous turn around. Either they were lying about their numbers with regards to recovery. Or they had used their own people as guinea pigs, because they didn't care about a few thousand casualties, and they had already developed a vaccine.
I don't take this virus lightly but I have faith that our president will do what is best for our citizens. I also placed too much faith in our disease control agency, which I have come to determine was misplaced faith. My argument all along has been that hysteria and and panic does nothing for this battle. So stop making things worse with your fears. It only exacerbates the problems. That the press was deliberately whipping up this fear, while in turn chastising him at every tun, in hopes of toppling this president in this election cycle.
China may have the upper hand for now, but it won't stand. When we gets this under control China will have hell to pay.
I was stunned (and pleased) to listen to some CT officials correctly “talk the talk” today and walk through their contingency plans based on an exponential infection growth.
In their words (not mine)—”doubling every three days”.
Plan A—double up on ventilators and use existing facilities.
Plan B—use several closed skilled nursing facilities as CV care centers.
Plan C—set up ancillary hospital sites for CV using a variety of state owned properties and sites.
Plan D—use university dorms as additional facilities.
It will be a tough plan to execute, but they are definitely on the right track, and understand the numbers and what they mean.
(In this case having a dumb governor may turn out to be an advantage—he let the health care professionals take over—and got out of the way.)
Yea ASTRID GALVAN and JONATHAN J. COOPER from AP wrote and article blaming Trump for 2 people getting sick /dying over taking fish tank cleaning chemicals.
Two strains. We have to pray as it mutates it gets less deadly.
If it mutates and kills all ages, the panic level will go from 6/10to 9/10.

Pretty decent series of 3 - 20 min videos.
“. Many of the small sized ones (under 10 cu. ft) are made by Haier (Chinese company) either under their brand name or a retailer’s badge. So, new ones won’t be available for awhile...An alternative might be to find an older/broken model and get in rebuilt or repaired? That will be possible until the supply of spare parts dries up.”
Wow, I thought that I was the only one that understood our meltdown will go beyond toilet paper and bottled water. Since you mention it, it’s probably not a bad idea to stock up on a few of the minor parts for my old refers. I think I’ll start on that. Thanks!
Take your word it’s not about Trump.
He has been a tough on covid guy all along and I’ve appreciated that.
As the outbreak progresses different focuses are needed.
This will end and people need to think about that.
That is good. I heard today that CT has like 84 cases and they think they all came from one South African guy who was in CT and attended a house party with 50 people.
Half of those people at the party have tested positive. The South African didn’t start feeling ill till he was on the plane going home.
Called a “super spreading event.”
I pray your wife recovers well and she can get home soon.
The Baltimore city mayor was begging for their people to stop shooting each other as the doctors were needed to do other things.
Bookmark for tomorrow catch up.
Night all.
Thanks Steve. Good luck on the east side - my brother lives in Athol ID, and one sister in Libby MT. Pretty safe over there!
these dedicated threads are full of info, but I’ll give you two articles to get you started and that are pertinent to your reply

Five other doctors died as a result of the new coronavirus in Lombardy, bringing the tragic death toll among white coats to 13, according to Fnomceo. possibly long term effects (from Mar 7):
The technical note spells out how patients with coronavirus experience a severe infection in all of their lungs, requiring major ventilation support. It also reveals the effect of the virus, which affects blood pressure, the heart, kidneys and liver with patients needing sustained treatment....
The inflammation in their lungs carries on for a long time. Patients need strong drugs in high doses to maintain their blood pressure. Kidney failure requiring a kidney machine is common and the patients later in their stay are starting to have blood tests showing liver damage.
New York converting Javits Center into 2,000-bed COVID-19 hospital - https://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2020/03/23/New-York-converting-Javits-Center-into-2000-bed-COVID-19-hospital/4961584996709/?tt=5
What got their attention today was the first death in the center of the state (totally unrelated to the house party and totally unrelated to NYC commuters).
That meant real community spread—and big trouble.
TX updates...

They will keep reporters out of the hospitals.
Media access to hospitals have to be strictly controlled because of HIPPA.
As such, you will get the same lousy cell phone video shot by patients or employees...but thats a good way for employees to get fired. Even in good times, it will get you suspended.
Proving anything like bodies in hallways is going to be problematic.
I will tell you it doesnt take much to overflow a morgue. Our hospital had enough for four on trays. We overflowed in the 2018 flu season. It got cozy in there.
anecdotal - don’t keep canned tangerines 10 years - or even 3 - the cans explode. Same with lemon pie filling. Both name brands. Maybe the citric acid?
Spent my entire life from childhood till when I moved out of my parents house making home made jam. We grew our own grapes. We had cases upon cases of them stacked along with grape juice, peach nectar, and canned any sort of Vegi you can imagine. My dad grew up on a farm and we stayed busy. My mom was a city girl. But she learned how to do it all. Weekend mornings were prepping the food and all afternoon into evening the canning was non stop. We didnt buy a single fruit or vegetable till my dad stopped gardening in his 80s. This was not really a garden. But more like a small farm lol.
Yikes.
Hubby knows a guy (hasn’t seen the friend, in a few months) that went to a birthday dinner party, a week ago, and the birthday guy has now tested positive.
It was a large table group, at a restaurant.
Several of the attendees are now feeling sick.
Geeeeez.
Who is going to ANY group gathering, in the past two - three weeks?
