One review recalled a bunch of *blacks* going to see it. When the scene came when the crucifix is dropped into the hole, and the jolt wrenches the nails in the holes in Christ's wrists, one of the audience-goers blurted out, "Sh!t, that's TOO MUCH!"
I am grateful that the movie brought to people's awareness, much of the suffering of Our Lord which has been ignored or crusted over by convention and repetition over the years.

I was hooked on Mother Angelica for a time. Got back into the rosary for a time.
I’m a walk away Pre Vatican II Roman Catholic. Maybe that will change someday.
