Let’s hope it does so before something sterilizes all our young men.

While we’re busy ‘saving the economy’ at the expense of a ‘few old people who were going to die anyway’ (the ‘why are we destroying the economy over the flu!? posters)...the real business of this virus might be way more longterm.

And MIGHT be the reason all the world leaders freaked out at about the same time and instituted ‘economy destroying measures’ to ‘save a few old people’.

Because while the flu doesn’t destroy your country and economy...a total crashout of the birth rate would.

As a copy editor, I would like to add here that the word “may” in this context does not imply total mystification but an educated conclusion about a possible connection.

....

I think Bill Clinton used your skills when he said: “What is “is”?

He said it called for expanding the facility 6 stories underground.

If real state is a premium at that location, going down might be cost effective, or maybe the only way to get it done due to a number of reasons. But I've never seen/heard of substation built with that many levels. Maybe someone here can chime in.

There has been an on going effort to harden our infrastructure for several years now. Some critical components have video surveillance.

That is apparently "national". From WW's website / statement:

"Over the weekend we adjusted our operating hours to help make it easier for associates to stock and perform enhanced cleaning and sanitizing. We’re pleased with the results we are seeing and will take additional steps beginning Thursday, March 19."

Then they go on to post the additionally restricted hours, adding a "Senior Hour" on Tuesdays @ 6 a.m.

The page froze so I'll have to shut down all browser windows to get the link...

Apparently the initial overnight closures were not "enough". Unfortunately, this is going to cram even more people in the stores per hour. Damn.

It looks like fresh produce, milk, etc. is going to be "out" as something safe to go get unless they can set up large outdoor aisles w/ refrigeration. Double damn. I guess I can try the online grocery (pick up at store), but, is THAT safer? Maybe... At least we are in pretty good shape on non-perishables. Gonna miss my milk & fresh produce tho', if it comes to that. But can't take chances - am helping with care for elderly Mom.

Most other grocery stores locally have been at least as busy as Wally World. The little country grocery nearer us was slightly less so, a few days ago, but I seriously doubt they have the staff and resources to do thorough storewide cleanings each night. Local news says they are getting hammered stock-wise too, by people driving out from the nearest small city, in addition to their regular customers.

A nearby town to our north had an old Nike Missile site. It was either before Y2K or after 9-11 that DHS/FEMA turned the abandoned site into one of their facilities. Lots of communication towers added.

My wife’s “sticky rice” is salt free and we add none. Tastes fine with most anything that has a bit of flavor to it.

Well, not fruits. :-)

Took a run to Germany to see what’s up...

Learned there risk has been elevated now to “High” for the virus and that the loss of taste and smell appears as symtoms of the virus for some.

Additionally:

- All borders to 9 surrounding nations with Germany closed
- No refugees to be accepted at all
- Germany to fly all Citizens home from other nations
- Currently no plan for lockdown, recommend people stay home
- All business and non-essential businesses to close

You know you can freeze milk, right? We put 4-5 gallons in our freezers. Let them thaw out in the refrigerator about a day before you run out. Shake the container really vigorous to mix the contents, as they tend to separate some during freezing. Tastes practically as good as fresh bought. We've kept milk this way for weeks, and weeks.

Darn those germans for wrecking their economy to make trump look bad.

the ‘flying german citizens home’ is curious to me.

Any ideas why they’d do that?

One poster indicated opening the gallon container and pouring out a glass before resealing it to freeze ensured it didn’t explode in your freezer.

I’ve never tried freezing milk as my freezer is usually full of venison.

We’ve never had that problem with milk in normal plastic containers. Maybe they just don’t fill them all the way to the top in our part of the country. They do bulge a bit, but go back to normal when thawed out.

We have two, both filled to the max. You have to put on thermal underwear and insulated gloves when looking for something. For some reason, whatever we’re wanting is always at the very bottom - haven’t figure out why yet - but I’m working on it.

I’ve predicted the possible fall of both Iran and China’s regimes.

Maybe Italy, not to mention to fall of the EU.
