Day #19 here:
http://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3825446/posts?q=1&;page=1
“it has been reported that the care workers in these assisted living facilities are of Chinese decent”
Source? Reported by whom?
“Anybody with a private vehicle in decent shape should be taking that wherever they may go. Plenty of people without such means take transit, and people who do it as an option cause more crowding and limit the opportunities for social distancing. And same with Uber and Lyft; dont take them if you have your own car.”
Absolutely, but I expect, by this weekend, to see a nationwide ban on private vehicles, for several weeks, as we go into severe lockdown. I’m planning on doing my final gasoline tonight and maybe tomorrow morning. Don’t forget Stabil either, fellow preppers, this may well draw out for a very long time.
As a copy editor, I would like to add here that the word “may” in this context does not imply total mystification but an educated conclusion about a possible connection.
It would certainly explain the lack of optix.
No telling how much they spent already in Austin before spreading CV to us.
Today Aldi’s had bread and milk in good supply, limited to two per customer, no eggs.
Canned and frozen goods were limited supply.
Gas was 1.66 at Costco, I didn’t go in the store but looking at the heaping carts coming out, there was a lot of food available to purchase.
Oh yeah, look for deaths from undetermined or viral pneumonia. Antibiotics didn’t help; person ultimately died of heart attack (Wu Flu can go from the lungs to the heart), etc.
“ban on private vehicles”
A fella I encountered on FR is part of “critical infrastructure” and they got planning docs via email...and in it was a specific authorization to purchase gasoline.
IF, IF such a thing happens it will be regional.
I guess I’ll see if the auto parts store has been raided yet.
Please follow the first two links in my post 7.
Then it will make sense for you.
I have to admit I never foresaw the extent of actions being taken here.
I don’t think Trump is stupid.
Which means he knows things we possibly don’t.
And he seems to have largely kicked the CDC to the curb.
Get ‘em before the ban the sales.
“And he seems to have largely kicked the CDC to the curb”
Yes, but Birx and Fauci still front and center.
Will they come out of this legendary heroes?
Bob:
As we discussed earlier, you do _not_ want to stock up during the “gaps”—that is when the flubros will be celebrating victory and infecting themselves and everybody else.
Wait until the stores have had time to restock, and folks have gotten used to the new “not fun” normal, and then quietly restock in the calm and relatively empty stores.
When the “all clear” sign is given, _that_ is the time to hide in the bunker.
Read about the Flu of 1918—it was at its more dangerous infecting the folks who thought it was over and all was well.

you are the problem...
Every little bit will help, but even in some always hot and humid places this thing is still spreading.
R0 of 1 is just equilibrium, though. Won’t matter if the number of infected is already high as hospital stays are longer than the incubation period.
Our best weapon is still containment.
Gradually the call is going out to professionals of every variety as the nation begin to focus.
But you have to go in to a hotspot and take your chances.
It’s a hard call to answer.
