“In some areas, not all. The decisions should done by the local managers.”

It has to be done at the state level I suppose.

It would seem that the states that have closed restaurants are expecting to see their healthcare system near or above overload in about 10 to 12 days.

They hope to keep the active infection rate at a sustained level. Whatever that is above capacity, I don’t know, but I did see Dr. Campbell on YouTube cite a report that to keep the infection rate at or below the level of healthcare we can provide in the US would take 10 years for the virus to work through the population.

That’s probably the whole population, not the 60% amount that the UK has said is necessary for herd immunity.

The states are obviously tracking lots of more confirmed cases than are being reported in the news. My thinking is that tests paid for by private insurance are not being reported, based on “patient privacy.” Then they make an estimate of real infections based on positive tests, I’ve heard increase positives by a factor of 10 to 20 to get an idea of the real case number.

So they will monitor the infections as they go up and try not to overshoot the sustained level they are trying to hit.

The next steps would be to close all business other than grocery and pharmacy. After that a lock down, no one can leave the house except to go to find groceries or medicine. They probably will limit those to one person per house shopping, if your last name begins with A-N you can go to grocery on Thursday, etc.

People are getting it again..but may be more of a relapse.

Dont consider yourself immune to be on safe side. You might actually be more vulnerable...or not

Chuck Woolery lives in Horseshoe Bay. Roger Staubach has had a place there since at least the 80s. Astronaut Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks played him) lived there and may still. Red Adair lived there. LBJ and Gov. Connally had places up river directly across from each other.

Last year, the flood (no thanks to the river authority who failed to lower the water level ahead of the 40 ft wall of water) took out the bridge LBJ built so Lady Bird could go into HEB.

I never did understand the draw Austin had for celebs. Ok, years ago, they could buy a mansion here a lot cheaper than in Hollyweird but these days, after the CA invasion, housing has shot up. Now days, they fit right in with all the other liberal loonies in Austin.

They do think that once you’ve had it you will be immune for about a year, but as it mutates like the common cold, it will come back next year and you will not.

The plan is to have a vaccine before Covid-20.

“I keep hearing that it disproportionately affects Chinese and that the area in which its spreading the fastest and worst has a high Chinese population...I wish there were more stats on exactly who had what and what their racial make up was.”

This Twitter video of the deaths in Italy pretty much debunks the rationalization now circulating that it only (or mostly) affects ethnic Asians. Look at the pictures as this Italian rolls through the obit pages:

https://mobile.twitter.com/davcarretta/status/1238791068071661568

My hunch is that Italy was getting hit so hard because, apparently, they had a non-stop flight to Wuhan and for months had planeloads of infected people coming in and spreading it.

I’m so thankful our washing machine died when it did in late Jan or early Feb. Have a feeling the new one is going to get a work out. Gosh, that was just last month. This virus is sure messing with my sense of time.

Am wondering if this will turn out to be "The operation was a success, but the patient (US economy) died". We shall find out rather quickly I believe.

“This is really scaring me a hell of a lot more than this damn virus...”

Yes, it is not only the virus but our reaction towards it.
That is why it is important to listen and act early.

There are lots of people who are busy and occupied with their own lives, I understand and accept them being caught flat-footed...

But there are those who saw what was going on, made a conscious decision to ignore danger, or worse yet mock those who were warning others — these people are going to have a hell of an adjustment, and are going to have a hard time getting sympathy with me.

As far as I’m concerned, the first cut in triage should be the “flubros” and similar deniers.

I want every flubro to volunteer to help on the front line since they are immune.
Not sure what they could do..but they should be willing to volunteer
