Her Mom and I have been trying to persuade her not to go. She will be flying from iad to fort lauderdale. Cheap tickets. Several of her friends scooped them up last minute and the air b&b is dirt cheap. Any thoughts on how to convince her to cancel would be helpful. She successful, single and is in her mid 20s and has just been told to work from home for the next 3 weeks.
I guess those silly Italians with their grandmothers left to die a psycho paranoids too.
Jeesh!
If she gets Carona she will probably recover. However, she may infect others who will die or be permanently disabled. This is not a mature person. My niece called me to ask if she should drive from D.C. to Ohio to visit her family after working in an office with a Covid-19 person. I told her no, but shes twenty four and can do what she wants. It comes down to concern for others. Could she be trying to increase her chances of collecting social security? She doesnt seem that smart. This plague is more serious than your worst fears, so party on.
Relax and have a Coronna. To hell with the red tide.
My daughter just returned from the Philippines where she went for a destination wedding. Out of ideas to persuade her not to go. Sorry.
On the bright side, she’s not panicked by the hype, getting a good deal and living life. That’s a good thing.
ps.
My daughter is now heading here from NYC to quarantine with us. I’m so happy she’s out of the city and we’ll have another shooter if things get crazy.
The USA “ain’t” Italy.
Tell her Laz will be picking her up at the airport.....
If she’s going to Florida to party with other Spring Breakers I’d be against it. But she’s an adult. It’s her life. Wait till your 19 year old is on a C-17 on his way to a combat zone in Iraq in 2003. Then you’ve got worries.
You are right to be concerned, if you had said she were going on a cruise it would be even worse. People hopping on those right now are begging for a whole new world of trouble.
But assuming your daughter won’t be in any dangerous medical danger, she should keep in mind that she could end up staying someplace she might not enjoy for an unknown amount of time if travel restrictions are put in place. If not for health reasons, that alone should lead someone to think it might be best to hang in around their home area for awhile.
Best wishes to you & yours.
On a more practical note, if she’s out in the sun and salt water, that should help kill off anything that gets on her. But that place is a cruise ship/nursing home Chernobyl. I personally wouldn’t go there. The only thing keeping it at bay are old people dropping dead before they can spread it.
Leaving Boston for Florida for a long planned golf trip on Tuesday.
I expect a nice empty plane for the flight down and coming home.
Put it this way,if no flights we were driving down anyway.
Nothing gets between me and golf. Nothing
Tell her not to get sick or hurt, don’t want to go near any doctor office, clinics or hospitals. Soon they will be turning away any but the worst cases.
They do have some restriction there just like about everywhere else on large gatherings. So she might encounter limited things to do and see. I suspect their plans are to get some sun on the beach. Her greatest risks will be skin cancer and shark bites. Tell her to use plenty of sun screen and stay out of the water. Don’t know where you live but here in the PA woods I’m really up against it. I’m at risk for the double whammy; corona with Lyme.
If you are younger than 50, no problem. If you’re older than 50, the chances of her passing the virus to you if she’s sick or not sick increases with each year past 50 you are.
So are funerals in the grand scheme of things
Chances are that she should have great immunity at that age, if she’s otherwise healthy. If travel is restricted, though, things might become somewhat austere there for a short time.
If she were mine I wouldn’t like it either but she’s young so will probably be fine. It’s “only the old people” like some of us that get really sick and die anyway according to the media. She’ll have fun.
tell her to use sunscreen and have fun!
Ask her how she’ll feel if she becomes a carrier to someone who ends up dangerously ill or even dying.
Dear God. This is a politicized hyped up hoax. Tell her to go!!!! It’s the sniffles for Christ sake.
Hear, hear!!!
