Her Mom and I have been trying to persuade her not to go. She will be flying from iad to fort lauderdale. Cheap tickets. Several of her friends scooped them up last minute and the air b&b is dirt cheap. Any thoughts on how to convince her to cancel would be helpful. She successful, single and is in her mid 20s and has just been told to work from home for the next 3 weeks.
Good night I look forward to the few responses I get in the morning.
planes are now using fantastic filters in their circulation system that will take this virus out of the air.
Tell her to keep her personal air port aimed at her face and keep her hands away from her face and she should do fine.
Planes are a heck of a lot better than trains or buses right now.
” She successful, single and is in her mid 20s...”
IMO, she may be all those things, but lacks common sense. Over 18 you can’t do anything about it.
Id go.
If your daughter contacts the virus she will probably be sick for about a week but she will recover just fine, without having any underlying conditions!! She is young and healthy we cant expect EVERYONE to completely stop living their lives!! If your daughter gets sick she will recover just fine dont worry!!!
I hope you don’t take my questions as too forward.
First, does she live with you? It sounds like she does not.
Second, do you or your wife have any underlying medical issues that would make you more susceptible to complications from COVID-19 ?
Like it or not, some people do get sick from COVID-19 to the point that they require more medical attention.
If you have underlying medical issues that would make you more susceptible to complications from COVID-19, you have a legitimate heightened interest in your and your wife’s health (not to mention your daughters, regardless).
So if either of you have the underlying medical issues and if she goes, once she returns, she should exercise due diligence and perhaps keep her distance for 10-14 days.
Some might point out that she will recover just fine, but could bring it home to mom and dad, or even others in a higher risk category.
You’re asking people here??
I would ask for prayers here but at 51, I make my own decisions and answer my own questions.
She’s successful and single. If she was not successful would it matter less?
Since you can’t decide, I’ll tell you.
Stop bugging her. She’s in her 20s and if she gets it she might not even know before it’s gone.
Over 1000 and/or incredibly sick people are in trouble.
Everybody else...not so much.
I doubt that you can change her mind after she has already bought the tickets and contracted the AB&B
Console yourself that traveling, as far as COVID-19 goes, is safer next week than last week.
Trump just eliminated a bunch more international travelers and lots of events that would have put a lot more people on planes have been cancelled.
You could also give her some advice that she wont take for after she gets to Florida like:
Dont go out to bars, dont eat at restaurants, stay at least 6 feet from any attractive young men she may meet (social distancing).
It is best if she stays in the house or walks alone on the beach.
Assuming that she is an adult, give her advice, but let her make her own decisions (and mistakes).
Mrs abb & I are headed to NOLA Monday morning for four days. WW2 Museum, restaurants, etc. I’m 70 and Mrs. abb is 64. We see no problems. It’s really distressing to see how readily normal people have succumbed to this MSM generated hysteria.
Amen
And enjoy New Orleans
Here's a short but accurate article about air circulation on airliners.
We just flew back from a vacation. Plane wasn’t crowded so we weren’t jammed in like sardines. Very few people wearing masks and no coughing. If you think about it only the healthy or at least the healthy looking will be flying now. Anyone outwardly showing signs wouldn’t be let on the plane or the other passengers would start freaking out. I hope she enjoys Miami but a lot of places she would want to go to will probably be shut down. Everything is cheap for a reason.
Trump Girl Kat is right,
FYI: the fatality rate, even including China for those under 30 is less than .02 of one percent-about twice that of the flu in a bad season. Give her some hand sanitizer and if you don’t have any hydrogen perioxide kills the Corna Virus , as does bleach, but can be a little hard on hands so give her some aloe vera too.
My Daughter is traveling next week too
I am sure she’ll be fine. Are you right, Dad? Of course you are! But still, I’m sure she’ll be OK. I’ll pray for her and her friends safety.
