First, let me say I am more than pleased in how my chemo and radiation treatments have been going. No nausea at all from the chemo and outside the pain from the arthritis in my shoulders holding my arms over my head for 15 to 20 minutes during radiation, I am not suffering much at all. Oh, I am down in the dumps at times and have fatigue to the max. I am sleeping about 16 hours a day.
All in all, the whole experience has been much better than I ever expected and all thanks to you all who gave me their prayers and support. I am so thankful to y'all!
Now, back at the ranch-- Coronavirus Insanity is real! The drive by media and the DemocRATS, never letting a crisis go to waste, are trying with all their might to kick fear into hyper-drive against President Trump and the Republicans and a part of it has hit close to home--
Hell, it has hit home right here in Corsicana, Texas, 56 miles south of Big D.
I went out for my last radiation treatment for the week at noon and then went down to the local HEB Grocery to get some milk. Now, granted, I have not been out and about much other than to get my chemo and radiation treatment, but as I drove up to HEB the parking lot was crammed to the brim.
Finally finding a parking spot, I made it inside and found an empty handicap cart and entered a land of folks filling grocery carts to the brim. Oh, I was able to get milk, yet I found there was not a roll of toilet paper to be found. Just a whole wall of empty racks where it should be stocked. Nor was there any hand sanitizer either. And thinking of my need to use distilled water in my COPD unit I went to get a couple of gallon jugs. Yep, the water section was just as empty as the toiler paper area.
I waited in line for nearly 20 minutes to pay for my milk and a couple of other things and then went down the street to Brookshires' discount brand grocery and found they were also out of water, too.
I realized I had several extra distilled jugs at home, so I figure I'll try again early in the morning when the trucks make their grocery deliveries. Getting home, I took the two distilled jugs I used as drinking water out of the fridge to save for my COPD. I filled up four empty jugs with water from the sink faucet and put them in the fridge for drinking.
Yup. My mom (97) fell and fractured her arm and has been in one for about a month minus the time she spent back at the hospital for surgery on it. Cringing the whole time.
Any news? Thanks in advance.
Sorry yes, Ive been posting updates from Cary Canada on the football thread. Hes had a rough go and is now back in rehab. Last was:
Carey once again - Danny is having some trouble with stomach cramps lately. They have him on a prescribed diet that has no taste but he’s going to see if I can bring him some outside food tomorrow. They did a CT scan on him yesterday to see if he has any intestine blockage. He was told no blockage was found at first then they changed their mind. All I could say was “hang in there and get better”.
Any news on Bender? Thanks in advance.
I looked through a few football threads and didn’t see any news on Bender but hope your back is better. :)
Not much news. He’s at a rehab facility working to get better.
a group of nurses I work with were having lunch in our small lounge...the topic turned to covid...ALL of us agreed it is a farce..
prayers....
and just realized this thread was started back in March....geez....
Okay, thank you.
I went to visit Danny in person this afternoon. His TV wasn’t working but I found the problem. He couldn’t find his phone. Apparently it had gone to the laundry room with his bed sheets and has now been returned. We had a good visit and I think he was in a better state of mind when I left. Carey Canada
Just as a side, ask your oncologist how well your immune system has bounced back. Until you get the all clearyou are compromised.
Not trying to be all Karen on you...but my experience with chemo in the middle of this was to have the oncology nurses pretty much tell y wife to wrap herself in Saran Wrap until her blood count got better. It did...and we are fine.
I would hate for you to pick up anything nasty. Not just Covid.
I am so happy to read you are doing well. Never laid eyes on you, so I wasnt sure I was directing my prayers in the right direction!
Jeez I didnt notice the date....
Rest in peace, Danny.
RIP.
RIP 😢
Rest in peace, Bender2.
RIP Bender2. I was just thinking about your Bender posts and wondered where you were. Looks like you are with the Big Mechanic in the sky. God Bless.
