First, let me say I am more than pleased in how my chemo and radiation treatments have been going. No nausea at all from the chemo and outside the pain from the arthritis in my shoulders holding my arms over my head for 15 to 20 minutes during radiation, I am not suffering much at all. Oh, I am down in the dumps at times and have fatigue to the max. I am sleeping about 16 hours a day.
All in all, the whole experience has been much better than I ever expected and all thanks to you all who gave me their prayers and support. I am so thankful to y'all!
Now, back at the ranch-- Coronavirus Insanity is real! The drive by media and the DemocRATS, never letting a crisis go to waste, are trying with all their might to kick fear into hyper-drive against President Trump and the Republicans and a part of it has hit close to home--
Hell, it has hit home right here in Corsicana, Texas, 56 miles south of Big D.
I went out for my last radiation treatment for the week at noon and then went down to the local HEB Grocery to get some milk. Now, granted, I have not been out and about much other than to get my chemo and radiation treatment, but as I drove up to HEB the parking lot was crammed to the brim.
Finally finding a parking spot, I made it inside and found an empty handicap cart and entered a land of folks filling grocery carts to the brim. Oh, I was able to get milk, yet I found there was not a roll of toilet paper to be found. Just a whole wall of empty racks where it should be stocked. Nor was there any hand sanitizer either. And thinking of my need to use distilled water in my COPD unit I went to get a couple of gallon jugs. Yep, the water section was just as empty as the toiler paper area.
I waited in line for nearly 20 minutes to pay for my milk and a couple of other things and then went down the street to Brookshires' discount brand grocery and found they were also out of water, too.
I realized I had several extra distilled jugs at home, so I figure I'll try again early in the morning when the trucks make their grocery deliveries. Getting home, I took the two distilled jugs I used as drinking water out of the fridge to save for my COPD. I filled up four empty jugs with water from the sink faucet and put them in the fridge for drinking.
Just got off the phone with the nurse who finalized that I will be going into Methodist Charlton Medical Center Saturday a 7 AM. I will be there two days while they adjust and dicker with my blood thinning meds so that I do not have a stroke. Then the good doc will run some devices down my throat to see how much cancer there is remaining. Hopefully none but if there is any left, it is either another surgery or back to chemo and radiation treatments.
I must say this had been a daunting month and a half trying to get this done. Both my cancer doctor and the threat guy are good at their jobs but getting them or any one of their staff on the phone is like trying to pull a camel through the eye of a needle. As I have said before, the treatments have been fine but trying to get them on the telephone is a experiment in disgust!
So, maybe things are not looking up and on the mend. Seems I should know what is what on Monday next afternoon but considering how commu8nications have gone so far, it may months of grudging silence--
Hang in there! We’re all pullin’ for ya!
Thanks!
GODSPEED Bendy!

Prayers up. Keep running.
Well, Amigo...it’s Saturday! I hope that this finds you doing well and in good spirits! Stay strong and God Bless!
My chemo and surgery has me concerned about Wuhan Flu risk. I pray that you have good results from this further treatment. Find an acquaintance you can ask to ge the distilled water and TP — They will feel good about helping.
Additionally, I didn’t know until this thread you live not too far from my brother at Lake Fork.
A couple of updates from Bender on Facebook
This is Carey Canada writing for Danny. Danny went into the hospital for a procedure last Monday the 3rd..He’s doing fine considering he had a mild heart attack before getting released Monday evening. So, they kept him in the hospital and now, after many scans and such, he is looking at by-pass heart surgery. As of 10:00 AM this morning, the doctors are working on getting him scheduled for the surgery. I will write updates as I get new information from him.
Carey Canada writing again - Danny is waiting to hear if his surgery will take place tomorrow or Monday. He is hoping for tomorrow. He said to say “Hello” and “Thanks” to everyone. I will write an update when I hear from him again.
Give him our best wishes. We are praying for him.
Another update:
Update on Danny Lee written by Carey Canada. Danny found out today about his cancer check-up procedure, which is why he was in the hospital to start with. They informed him that the cancer was gone so he won’t need an operation or any more chemo treatments for that. Hooray !! That raised his spirits a bit today. Now to just get this heart surgery behind him.
(Bypass surgery is Monday)
I just received word that everything went fine with Danny’s surgery. They are closing up now. I should get a report from the doctor a little later. from Carey Canada
That and him being cancer free are the best news I’ve had all week, and I needed some!!!! God bless you Danny!!!
It’s me, Carey Canada again, writing about Danny - I talked to Danny several times and for a while today. The nurses had him sitting up today, he was in a little additional pain, and he finally yelled “Uncle !” needing a break. I think he is doing great and will head to rehab soon.
Outstanding. He’s a tough old bird!!
How are things going, you’ve been on my mind. Hope you’re doing better.
Another report by Carey Canada. Talked to Danny today. His therapy is lasting 3 or 4 hours these days. He saw his chart today and it had the 5th as his day of release from Rehab. Fingers crossed.
It seems as if it weren’t for bad luck, Danny would have no luck at all these days. He has pneumonia now and will not get to leave the Rehab Hospital on the 5th after all. It doesn’t seem too severe to me since we talked about 5 minutes today but then I am not a doctor. The Rehab people think they can handle the pneumonia there so he is not going back to the hospital at this time. Danny said he is working the breathing apparatus every 15 minutes like he has been instructed too. by Carey Canada.
I sure hope he kicks butt and takes names, he’s fiesty. Prayers up and thank you for the update.
