Their funding is per student, per diem. High absentees = less moolah.
When we lived in CA, I called my kid’s school when he was sick & was told not to. Sure enough, his report card showed 100% attendance, despite 3 day absence.
No doubt the emergency package will only help school employees whose pay is docked if schools are shut down, but the libs will want it both ways— paid as if they’re in class, paid again because they’re not.

You might have a point. One way schools get money is based on the number of students they have. More bodies, more money. Illegals mean more bodies. Out come of the education has nothing to do with the income of money in this case. If they report the cases of the virus to the health department then the department would have to check on all the people that came in contact with those cases. Now the real number of students in the system will come out, both the illegal immigrants and fake students put in to pad the numbers.
