I may be one of the few Americans who knows where that beautiful little jewel Andorra is, and even fewer who have been to Andorra. I almost lost my life when my Peugeot fishtailed on a snow-packed road towards the edge of a high cliff in the Pyrennes (no guardrails). Only God knows how the car stopped inches away from going over to certain death.
I lived to buy a small souvenir apple made of alabaster and jade at a small shop there which I have to this day, half a century later. Still wish I had bought the silver lamé ski jacket, though.
It's true what they say that your entire life passes before your eyes when you're facing death.

Interestingly, the war with Germany was WWI. Andorra did not participate in the Versailles Treaty. There seems to have been a large pro-fascist faction during WWII.
