Time to stay calm and continue on....
Yesterday's thread is here:

Excellent, I’m doing 3 miles most days right now. Was doing 5 and running about half a mile here and there but I tweaked a knee somehow so I’m doing less as it recovers. It really doesn’t like running and stairs right now.
The media response to a needed action should not matter.
All we did was ban inbound from those who had been to China, two months after the outbreak.
Yeah, it’s something.
But it was clearly not enough.
And for those that had all the scientific information it borders on dereliction of duty.
I went shopping at 11:30 last night...at our Super Wal-mart. The place was pratically empty of customers (NO Crowd, No lines)... no stress whatsoever dodging customers!
Maybe a different strain or maybe different genetics.
Could also be environmental factors that have not been identified yet.
How do you think they are doing now?
Temps here in Eastern NC zeroing in on 80 degrees for the next few days and daytime temps pretty much staying in the 70’s for the 10 day forecast.
That’s a good thing.
Everybody knows you have no information on Hillary.
238 new cases in Qatar (total cases jumps from 24 to 262)
Good move! Similar to how I like to drive highways well after midnight. No idiots in the way.
“The correct statistic to follow is Deaths / Closed Cases”
Agreed, and globally using that metric the fatality rate is currently running around 7%. That’s the ratio to watch closely as global infection numbers increase. There needs to be an improvement in that ratio, otherwise in the end we’re dealing with a much higher fatality rate then what’s being reported.
Yep, waiting with much interest on that one.
MIL’s Assisted living place now says no one in, no one out...Oregon
“How do you think they are doing now?”
Better.
They still have major communication issues.
It is easy for the average person to perceive a cavalier attitude, and a focus on markets. That is not serving them well at all.
POTUS constant comparisons to the flu are irrelevant. This virus is ADDITIVE to the flu. And it’s far more deadly for those who contract it.
Ugh. I’m in San Jose and have diarrhea.
Just happened at my mother’s assisted living facility in NJ as well.
Are the workers locked in for the duration?
Thanks for that input.
My wife recovering from operation in hospital, they have partly locked it down in terms of restricting visitors to lessen possibility someone will spread the virus there. Only spouses and children of patients allowed in. You have to sign in, fill out forms and answer questions before you are admitted to hospital to visit anyone.
We were warned yesterday at work we may have to begin working from home.
Italy’s “high death rate” is not that hard to explain.
Italy failed to properly test its people early on, so the only way they knew someone had the virus was when folks were very sick—and those folks were tested.
Then, there were so many of those very sick folks that they overwhelmed the health care system and more and more people died since adequate care was not available.
The _only_ reason this has not happened in France, Spain, UK, US etc is because these countries are a few weeks behind Italy in getting the disease.
You do _not_ want to hear this, but I have seen _no_ evidence that any other western European country or the US is handling this better than Italy did.
_No_ evidence.
Countries that handled the disease with massive quarantines and massive testing (like South Korea and Hong Kong, for example) had much lower death rates.
If you get it right, you have low death rates.
If you get it wrong, you have high death rates.
Ha...doubt that...just no visitors I think.
